A Powerful Regency Library Armchair, England, circa 1830.

With its wide proportions, imposing presence and beautifully carved winged lion monopodia arms, this exceptional European walnut armchair has an almost throne-like quality.

Upholstered in Rosie Uniacke moss cotton velvet, it combines Greco-Roman influences with the Renaissance Revival style of the 1830s.

An almost identical armchair is illustrated in English Furniture 1500–1840 by Geoffrey Beard & Judith Goodison.

A Jean Royère-Style Adjustable Floor Lamp, France, circa 1940s–60s.

Sculptural, playful and incredibly versatile.
This striking iron floor lamp features a shaped arm adjustable at five points, allowing the light to be positioned and the atmosphere easily changed.

With its original patina, wrapped metal detailing and tripod base, it has all the character of mid-century French design.

The design is illustrated in Le Décor d’Aujourd’hui (1956) and 1000 Lights (Taschen, 2005).

A fantastic statement piece for any interior.

A rare pair of early 19th-century gilt bronze candelabra ✨ https://www.lovedayantiques.co.uk/product/231/pair-of-early-19th-century-gilt-bronze-and-lustres-three-branch-candelabra/

An exceptionally attractive pair of three-branch gilt bronze candelabra, probably English, circa 1820, each adorned with sparkling cut-glass lustres.

Of rare form and in wonderful original condition, the three leaf-cast branches feature tulip nozzles and petal-cast drip pans, beautifully decorated with cut-glass lustres. The branches are supported by distinctive gryphon-cast tricorn plinths and platforms.

The unusual design and foliate details suggest an English origin, differing from the more familiar French designs of the period. During the early 19th century, English manufacturers began to develop their own distinctive bronze work, helped in part by the import restrictions imposed during the Napoleonic Wars.
With their untouched gilt finish, unusual form and impressive scale, this is a particularly striking pair.

Dimensions: H 44cm × W 44cm × D 14cm.
