How is our baby girl at her prom tonight??! 💖👑

Couldn’t be prouder of her, she has worked so hard these last 2 years for her GSCE’s. She won an award for outstanding effort and achievement in business last night 🎉
She’s beautiful, caring, intelligent, hard working and so damn grown up! Super proud of her and how she’s using what she’s been through to grow and be an incredible young lady x

Today marks Rare Disease Day and they don’t get much rarer than our Little Soldier 🌈💂🏻‍♂️

In January last year we received a letter from Lennon’s genetic consultant at Great Ormond St with the result from the 100k genome study which we put Lennon on after he died.

In typical Lennon style he has been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition - He had a variant in the gene MAGEL2 which they have named ‘Schaff Yang Syndrome’. In January 2020 when they write to us there were less than 100 known diagnosis’. Most of the children on the severe end of the spectrum die in utero, making Lennon super special ❤️

The gene variant Lennon had is not present in either Ian or myself, and there is zero risk of Isla amd Florence having a child with the same condition.

It’s taken me a long time to process this. At first I felt it marked the end of Lennon’s story, but I have now come to realise it’s just another chapter. Lennon’s story will live on in so many people and so many ways @ Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity
