Currently going through images of some old stock we have ready for market.

An 19th Century nomadic tribal chair, originating from the Swat Valley region of Pakistan.

It holds remnants of its original paint, and the woven leatherwork is in fantastic condition, a real talking point which ties wonderfully well with Afghan/Persian rugs and any of the Middle Eastern vessels we have in stock!

We thrive on sourcing the most primitive items, ones that have a story to tell.

It is one of our utmost passions, preserving history and allowing others to also appreciate the items we love finding.

We have some fantastic items for sale, some of which include this wonderfully repaired 19th Century English malt shovel, a simple tool, yet with so much charm 🌾

The other, a vernacular European stool, never touched and very much useable today as the day it was first hewn together.

Sourced from the south of France, this multi glazed pot is weathered perfectly, it adds a beautiful pop of colour to any interior setting 🌻

We think its main purpose was a water vessel, more than likely up and down a well providing water to local villagers.

Date wise, we are estimating it to be mid 19th century.

A stunning, large colourful oil on canvas of a beautiful still life scene.

Dating to the early mid 20th century.

The artist has used a muted, pastel palette to create this wonderful piece, It’s double sided but we absolutely love this side the most.

We are back home in Yorkshire and finally ready once again to source unique and beautiful objects.

To start, this incredible c1820 Swedish ale bowl 🇸🇪

Blackened from the sugars of the ale, over years and years, it has an incredible unique patina and harkens back to the rural agricultural folk of Sweden, a simpler time.

It is hand turned and still holds remnants of its original paint, a simple and honest piece of history, it would make a great fruit bowl.

Forge & Twine announcement 📣

We are letting you all know.. Forge & Twine are relocating back home, back to Yorkshire.

Sadly, this means our time at Glasgow’s must come to an end.

We have absolutely loved our time here, the other dealers, alongside Peter and Kate’s help, have been greatly supportive and we have been so happy curating our first ever space within the beautiful Victorian warehouse which we will never forget.

We are open to offers on all items in the Rag & Bone Glasgow, please speak to Peter or ourselves for help and we will be offering a discounts until the end of July.

Our business will continue as normal, however, we now have the capabilities to offer delivery locally in and around Yorkshire, alongside couriers to the rest of England for other items.

You’ll still be able to shop online via our website but keep an eye open too, as we may be offering appointment only shopping very soon!

Thank you for the love and support on our short adventure up in Scotland, but we are very excited to continue our growth back home in Yorkshire!✨

All the best,
Gareth & Laur 💫

From the South of France, this large scale washboard has been sun bleached to perfection. Dated to the early 20th Century.

A really solid example, very decorative, there’s a knot in the wood which has fell out, allowing it to be hung up perfectly.

Styled here with a collection of our other stock, it’ll fit wonderfully into a country home.

Syrian vessels, something we always have in stock and appreciate massively. Primarily used to store oils, milks and grains, this amphora originally had two handles.

The thick clay, primitively moulded
into its warped shape, utterly unique.

Our vessels can be used in many ways within any interior, modern or traditional and suit perfectly dried flowers, fresh flowers or even small olive trees.

This one in particular has developed the most incredible patina, years upon years of wear, almost ancient looking.

Decoy ducks are such a simple decorative object to place literally anywhere in the home, they are so naively done and loveable 🦆

This one is carved of a hardwood and from France, traces of the original paint can still be seen adding a lovely folky look to it.

Dated to around 1900-1910, this is a great survivor.

Sold ♦️
In the 1940s - 1950s, a farmer in Lincolnshire needed a decoy goose, so he fashioned one up out of board, painted it and added some bolts to give it life.

Now, it is a beautiful decorative piece of folk art, foldable and versatile, adding charm wherever you decide to place it.

A simple honest piece.
