A hidden gem inside the Royal Albert Hall

Behind one of the world’s most famous stages lies the Artists Bar, a space where performers unwind, prepare, and celebrate.

Recently redesigned by BDP, this once-forgotten area has been transformed into a warm and intimate retreat. We were delighted to support the project with custom lighting solutions from our Architape range.

From the soft glow of the bar to subtle highlights across seating and architectural features, every detail was designed to create the right atmosphere—whether it’s the buzz before a performance or the calm afterwards.

It’s a space that proves lighting isn’t just functional, it shapes how a place feels.

Designed for performance. Engineered for installation.

Tight deadlines. Complex control systems. Last-minute changes. Sound familiar?

If you’re working in architectural lighting, you know how easily installation can slow everything down. That’s exactly why we created .

Our custom power & control enclosures are built to your exact system specs—and arrive pre-wired, pre-configured, and fully tested—so you can spend less time troubleshooting onsite and more time getting the job done.

Here’s how ArchiPower makes your life easier:
✅ Ready to install – no wiring from scratch
✅ Smooth integration with Pharos, Dynalite, DALI & DMX
✅ Designed to fit your project—not forced into it
✅ Handles complex installations with ease
✅ Fewer faults, fewer call-backs
✅ Fully tested for compliance—no delays

At Architainment, we get the realities of installation. That’s why ArchiPower is designed to remove friction, not add to it.

Less time onsite. Fewer headaches. Better results.

Bank Holiday Mode: ON 💡☀️

The forecast says sunshine, which in the lighting world means only one thing… we’re temporarily unemployed.

So this bank holiday weekend, let’s step away from lumens, leave the spreadsheets in the dark, and fully embrace that big glowing fusion reactor in the sky doing all the heavy lifting for free.

No specs, no quotes — just long evenings, cold drinks, and pretending we’ve never heard the phrase "supply chain challenges".

We’ll be back to finding the best solutions for your projects on Tuesday … but for now, we'll let nature handle the lighting.

Enjoy the sunshine! 🌞

As one of the world’s most recognisable historic ships, Cutty Sark is a true maritime icon. So, it was a privilege for Architainment to support a sensitive upgrade to her lighting in spring 2026.

Working closely with DHA Designs and SI Electrical, the aim wasn’t to reinvent the lighting, but to enhance what was already there — improving visual impact while fully respecting the ship’s heritage and the realities of a busy, working museum.

By upgrading and optimising the existing infrastructure, the project built on a trusted foundation. This approach minimised disruption while delivering better performance, consistency, and flexibility for the future.

What changed?

On deck: Discreet linear lighting beneath the pin rail now provides a warm, even glow that gently reveals the ship’s form.

Below deck: Colour changing lighting hidden beneath the walkways brings added flexibility for exhibitions and storytelling.

Externally: Upgraded fixtures reuse existing mounting positions to deliver robust, high quality illumination with minimal impact.
All lighting was seamlessly integrated into the existing Pharos control system, ensuring intuitive operation and reliable day to day use.

Live from April 2026, the upgraded lighting enhances Cutty Sark’s presence both day and night, enriching the visitor experience while supporting long term sustainability.

This project is a great example of how thoughtful collaboration and careful upgrades can make a meaningful difference in historic environments.

Standing proudly on Haverfordwest’s historic Western Quayside, Tidemarker is a striking architectural glass sculpture inspired by the ever‑changing rhythm of the tide.

Created by artist Kirsty Brooks, the piece was imagined as something truly alive — animated by movement, colour and light to reflect the ebb and flow of the town’s inland port. From the very beginning, collaboration was at the heart of the project.

The journey started in Kirsty’s studio in Pewsey, where early lighting experiments explored how RGBW LED light would play through her layered glass panels. Using a single panel as a prototype, colour transitions, tempo and motion were tested, shaping the look and feel of the final installation.

Behind the scenes, a pair of Pharos LPC controllers, housed in an ArchiPower enclosure and connected via ArchiCloud, form the brains of the system. This setup allowed the lighting to be programmed, refined and adjusted collaboratively — giving Kirsty hands‑on control over how light responds to her artwork.

Once installed in Haverfordwest, our Technical Services team carried out final commissioning and calibration on site. Each vertical lighting run was carefully tuned to complement the translucency of the glass.

One of Tidemarker’s most unique features is its tide‑responsive illumination. The lighting updates automatically based on tide predictions, creating an ongoing visual conversation between the artwork and its natural surroundings. Sunrise, sunset and overnight dimming schedules ensure it’s always shown at its best.

If you’re visiting Haverfordwest, take a stroll along the Western Quayside and experience Tidemarker for yourself.

If you’ve visited Trafalgar Square in the evening recently, you might have noticed something special: the famous fountains now come alive with colour and light.

Behind the scenes, this transformation is powered by a carefully engineered lighting system designed to withstand the challenges of an underwater environment, while delivering stunning visual impact night after night. Working with our supplier partner Lumascape, we specified compact, yet powerful RGBW luminaires that bring vivid colour and clean white light to the fountains, all seamlessly integrated into the existing structure.

The entire system is managed remotely via our ArchiCloud platform. This allows the Greater London Authority to control and programme the fountains alongside other London landmarks, all from a single dashboard.

The result?
• Minimal disruption during installation
• Dynamic lighting scenes and flexibility
• A historic space enhanced for modern city life

Next time you’re in Trafalgar Square after sunset, take a moment to stop and watch the fountains. What looks like a simple play of light is actually a sophisticated system working silently in the background to make one of London’s most iconic spaces shine even brighter.

Have you seen the fountains lit up yet?

In architectural fit‑out projects, one challenge often flies under the radar: getting the balance right between downlights and linear luminaires.

On drawings, it can look simple enough. But in real‑world applications, differences in output, colour temperature, optics and glare control can quickly lead to uneven brightness, visual discomfort and spaces that feel fragmented rather than cohesive. The real issue isn’t just matching lumens. True consistency comes from considering beam distribution, cut‑off angles, colour stability over time, and how different luminaires perform together once installed.

That’s why integrated thinking matters. Our Architape linear portfolio was engineered specifically for the architectural market, and we’re now extending it with a complementary range of downlights. Rather than treating each luminaire as a standalone product, we’ve designed them as coordinated systems — with aligned colour temperatures, controlled output options and shared performance standards. Less guesswork. Better results.

Using the same high‑quality Nichia LEDs, refined optics and robust thermal management, Architape ADL downlights deliver the same consistent tone, controlled brightness and long‑term stability as our linear solutions.

The result? Lighting schemes that feel intentional, balanced and visually calm — across offices, retail, hospitality and high‑end residential spaces.
