In early 2015, our founder Peter Hamill and his daughter Lauren Hamill visited a UK multinational DIY retailer looking to buy paint for her bedroom. They were faced with many brands, finishes, qualities and disfranchised pricing, making the decision process extremely difficult. Additionally, there was the question of how some water-based paints were cheaper than a litre of water by the litre! It b
ecame evident that a solution was needed on branding, quality, and clarity between all these paints. It was then put to Peter Hamill by his daughter "to make our own paint". This concept created many exciting conversations between father and daughter and King of Paints was born in the pursuing months. The public consumer would perceive the name King of Paints as being the best. They attempted to secure the name, but the trademark application was declined; however, after months of communications between the founder and the Royal Names Department Lord Chamberlain's Office at Buckingham Place, permission for the Royal trademark. King of Paints™ was formally registered on August 26th, 2016 (Registration Number UK00003182425). The result being this fresh, unique, distinctive, strong brand has real core values.
