I hear the same sentence almost every week: “I’d love a terrarium but I’m not really a plant person.” And every time, it comes from someone picturing the wrong thing — fussy bonsai trees, daily misting schedules, special soil blends measured to the gram. That’s not what a closed terrarium is. It’s the opposite. The whole point of sealing a terrarium under glass is removing the maintenance, not adding to it. The moisture stays in. The temperature stays steady. The plants inside were chosen specifically because they thrive in exactly that environment without help. You’re not signing up for a hobby that demands attention — you’re signing up for one that mostly looks after itself once it’s built. The only real “work” happens on day one, when you’re putting it together. After that, it’s mostly just... there, being green, being calm, asking nothing of you. If that’s the only thing that’s been holding you back, consider this your sign.
