New Garden Friends
Last evening I gave a talk to the Gardening Club of our nearby village. There was good attendance and the welcome I received was beautifully warm.
I chose two conversation topics; both close to my heart. The first was sustainability and why seasonality matters.
The second was why it’s good for us to be in our gardens and our green spaces, sharing what I know about how social and therapeutic horticulture can be life sustaining.
I’ve had such a wonderful response to my discussion with new garden friends. There is so much to say about why buying British flowers is the best way we can care for our planet, and using why sustainable methods of design must also be our goal. There is no place for floral foam in the flower world.
The books I’d taken with me were of great interest, too. It’s important to share knowledge around those things we are passionate about.
Gardening and green space is our sanctuary. In a chaotic world, when we seek comfort and solace, Mother Nature is always there to hold us. She provides the wild remedy our hearts need, and we must nurture her in return.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me in and who gave such lovely feedback of our time together.
I demonstrated a bouquet using English garden flowers which was the raffle prize, and shared my refreshed willow basket using the fabulous frame from Rainy • British grown handmade wreath bases • Basketmaker.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and a happy new year to those, who, like me, are celebrating; Shanah Tovah.
