How glorious it felt to open the attic windows wide and fill the studio with spring air and bird song while I prepared the space for today’s workshop 🌱

And a spot in the dappled shade of the garden for the makers to enjoy their lunch... maybe even take some making outside into the sunshine

A little bit of inky art from who is coming to share her wild & inky adventures with us very soon!

🌱If you’re wanting to connect with a bit of nature around you

🌱If you’re wanting to spend the day with other creative humans, working with your hands and heart and celebrating spring... this is the day for you!

Kathryn is a gorgeous artist and soul and I’ve no doubt she’ll be a gentle and generous guide and teacher too.

‘I prefer spring to autumn now. One does, I think, as one gets older’

~Virginia Woolf

It’s so good to see the signs of spring popping up in the garden. The snowdrops are almost going over and many more shoots are bursting through. It’s the first of March and there’s much to look forward to 🌱

I’m super chuffed that will be back later for a workshop later in the the spring with her beautiful blooms.
And in just a few weeks will be spending a full and immersive day teaching us how to make and use natural inks from foraged and found wild things. A day for getting stuck in, hands messy and making something beautiful 🌱

Hope you’re enjoying some signs of spring too, on this first March morning 🌿

🌱SPRING INK 🌱
A new workshop hosted by and it sounds like the most wonderful day!
She says...
“As the Spring begins to emerge let us meet and make ink.

Come along and learn how to make natural, non-toxic writing and drawing inks from seasonal plants, kitchen compost and found metals. For the sheer, unadulterated, and delightful alchemy of it!

Immerse in the sensory, sacred and slow world of making your own botanical ink, and explore using them on paper. We will be learning about the properties of the plants around us, looking anew at some common favourites and bringing fresh eyes to the blossoming spring. A relaxed and elemental exploring.

A warm welcome to all experience levels.

You may be a long time maker and artist looking to bring more nature based and sustainable materials into your practice, or a nature loving and art-curious person looking to try something new.

🌿With full permission to make a mess and get stuck in.🌿

You will leave with a collection of handmade art materials, ink tests and adventures on paper and the skills to carry on at home.

£95 / £85

There are a limited number of £85 places available for this workshop for those who are currently low or unwaged.

Please get in touch at [email protected] or send me a DM if you would like to access this. I will not ask for further details.

🌿PRACTICALS:
All ink making materials papers provided and protective gloves, if needed.

Bring a notebook with you, and a sketchbook if you would like.

Please bring along an apron or old shirt, or wear clothes you don’t mind getting possible ink stains on.

We will be walking and gathering (lightly) in the local area, so do bring wet weather boots and coat.

As part of the ticket price you have the choice between a mug of tea/coffee and cake OR a bowl or soup with bread. All provided by the lovely Toast cafe next door. If you would like BOTH let me know and I will make an addition to your ticket purchase. You are also able to order on the day!

Please feel free bring snacks and/or lunch with you too. We’ll be eating together.

Full information on my website. There’s a direct link to event in my bio.”🌿

This bright weather is making January feel so much softer ✨ I’ve noticed that it’s often a different, quieter sort of creativity in midwinter, more closely connected to the light; the warmth of it, the way it moves through a space before it’s gone again. I love seeing the way it dapples through these old windows and finding new ways it plays on the walls ✨

The wreaths are everlasting, made with hand-picked and dried flowers, grasses and foliage. What a beautiful way to bring the outdoors in, preserving the seasons gone by and adding some loveliness to your walls in the process. A perfect autumn morning activity ❤️
These would make wonderful winter gifts or a delicious treat for yourself. And of course the treat is also in the making. I can’t wait.
