Looking back at the biggest lampshade I’ve ever recovered 🤩

When I LOVE THAT, a brilliant vintage dealer specialising in mid-century modern furniture and lighting, brought this shade to me, I knew I was in for quite a week!

He’d found it on one of his sourcing trips, stored in a leaky warehouse and water damaged, but it was just too special to give up on!

The numbers alone are pretty wild, a drum shade at 95cm wide and 62cm tall, sitting on a base a further 138cm high. In total, 200cm or 6ft 6” of lampshade 💚

I had to completely rearrange the studio and put up extra tables just to fit it in. At one point I had to call Martha in to help me roll the base!

The customer wanted a simple off white fabric, and to be honest, at that size the shade doesn’t really need anything else. The sheer size of it is a statement all by itself ✨

One week, a rearranged studio, and one very happy customer, I think we did it justice 💚

A little off topic from lampshades today, but something I really wanted to share 🌿

Earlier this week I took on our ‘Walk for Endo’ with my fellow maker and friend Ruby. Starting at the top of Stanmer Woods, we headed up to Ditchling Beacon, along the South Downs way and then back down to Stanmer Village. Three and a half hours, a few snack breaks and some really beautiful views 🌄

We were walking for Endometriosis UK’s Walk for Endo 2026, a cause very close to both of our hearts. Although we first met through our small businesses as local Brighton makers, we quickly discovered we shared something much more personal, our experiences of living with endometriosis.

The incredibly talented Ruby even made us the most beautiful bags in the Endometriosis UK colours for the walk 💛

Together we have raised an incredible £555 so far, and we are completely blown away by everyone’s generosity 🙏

Our donation page is still open for a few more weeks if you’d like to contribute, link in bio 💛

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🌿
