Sometimes the vision for something doesn’t work out as expected, but no piece of furniture is without the option of a redesign and a new life!

It was hoped I could sand this little cabinet and make it ‘lighter’, but sadly the wood quality wasn’t that great, years of ingrained stain, so I suggested painting it.

My client chose a lovely warm terracotta colour to compliment her hallway floor tiles and I fitted an antique brass k**b to finish it off. I think you’ll agree it looks fresh and fabulous! 😍

I absolutely love the sunshine and heat (rare for Scotland) but it's playing havoc with my painting, the paint is drying too quick and the wood is swelling with the heat!

Any tips/advice from fellow furniture upcyclers welcome. How do those who live in hot countries manage? Although I'm assuming air conditioning comes into play.....

This gorgeous sideboard was one of the heaviest items I’ve worked on! Solid Mexican wood. Years of wax build up to strip off before I could sand to the natural wood for painting.

It was very rustic in design which didn’t suit my client’s taste, so I filled in most of the cracks, knots, holes and uneven surfaces before I primed then painted. Then sealed the top surface with clear wax oil. Lovely antique brass hardware then gave it a more classic look in keeping with the decor of her home

Farmhouse pine chairs, solid, classic, but in dire need of attention!

I did 6 of them, 2 at a time, stripped off the paint, then the original varnish to bare wood and refinished with hard wax oil which conditions the wood, while seals it 100% waterproof. It won’t flake like varnish does..
