You really do see it all in this job... 🤦‍♂️

Found this absolute shocker up on the roof today. If you ever wonder why you should hire someone qualified, look no further than this dodgy bit of DIY.

First off, whoever fitted this used a gas flue liner for a solid fuel stove. Solid fuel burns way hotter than gas, making this thin liner completely useless and a massive fire hazard waiting to happen.

But it gets better... rather than using a proper top plate or clamp to hold it up, they’ve literally hung the entire weight of the liner off the chimney pot using a bit of old garden fence wire! 🤯

Surprise, surprise, the constant weight and tension have completely cracked and wrecked the terracotta pot.

This is exactly why building regs exist. Don’t leave your fireplace to a bloke who watched a quick YouTube video and found some spare wire in his shed!

Out with the old, in with the remote-controlled heat! 🔥

Today’s job was a complete transformation. We ripped out a tired, 15-year-old Burley wood burner and upgraded the customer to this stunning Gazco Huntingdon 40 Gas Fire.

The customer wanted all the charm of a traditional stove but with zero hassle, so they opted for the fully remote-controlled upgrade. Absolute game-changer for those chilly evenings!

This wasn’t just a simple swap. To make sure everything was running safely and up to regs, we:

✅ Dropped a brand new gas-specific flue liner down the chimney.
✅ Ran a completely new gas supply line from the loft, down the exterior wall and neatly into the back of the chamber so no ugly pipes are on show.

We recently got to work in this stunning 500-year-old renovated property - and when you have fireplaces with this much history and scale, you need stoves that actually do them justice.

Two rooms, two stoves, one warmer home 🔥

We recently had the pleasure of transforming a lovely property in Burstall, Ipswich with a double installation.

1️⃣ First up is the Portway Arundel Deluxe. A simplistic, modern multi-fuel stove with a huge viewing window which would suit any fireplace. We also carried out the custom hearth tiling personally to ensure the finish matched the quality of the stove.

2️⃣ In the second room, we fitted this crisp Mi-Fires Loughrigg wood burner into an existing fireplace opening. Simple, elegant, and incredibly efficient.
