Quick project to finish off the day! A commissioned replacement finial. Turned in English Elm to match the original. Sadly it is to be painted, almost a shame to cover up such beautiful timber but painted and sealed it will last many years to come.

A little prototype I turned recently. It's the first time I have been asked to turn a Stielhandgranate 'potato masher' gr***de handle. The long central bore and precise sizing needed for a good fit with the customers hardware made it interesting. Made with good quality European beech which is in keeping with what was used back in the day.

I have been quiet for a little while focusing on this large production order. 350 80mm spheres in red oak, maple and cherry. A technically tricky form to do well and tolerances needed to be quite tight, I really enjoyed the challenge.

This native grown Pistachio is an absolute beauty. Wait to the end to see the stunning feathering in this special crotch piece.

Maple has a quiet grain, but there's depth in it - you just have to bring it out. This is where the shape starts to emerge and the bowl finds its balance.

I really enjoy the simplicity of these, and think they look so smart with a bit of personalisation on the front.
