This week Rob was out at Orchard Grove near Taunton, checking in on the flooring works being carried out for Vistry Homes.

We’ve currently got multiple teams working across this row of houses, with some tricky site conditions to manage.

The team are cracking on and keeping things moving, but the finish still comes first.

Great work from everyone involved!

A lovely neutral finish for a new home in Newton Ferrers.

Rob was out last week visiting a new plot at Collaton Park with Coln Signature Homes, where the team have fitted Karndean through the hallway, bathroom, kitchen and lounge, with Cormar Malabar Cottonwood in the bedroom.

The result is calm, practical and easy to live with, a simple base for the new homeowners to make the space their own.

If you were updating your flooring, where would you start?

The hallway that greets everyone coming in?
The stairs that take the most wear?
The bedroom you want to feel softer and calmer?
Or the living room where everything happens day to day?

If you’re not sure what to tackle first, bring a few photos into our Lee Mill showroom and we’ll talk through the options with you.

Sometimes a quick conversation makes the next step much clearer.

Choosing carpet for stairs or hallways?

These areas usually need something more robust than a bedroom carpet.

Look for:

A hard-wearing pile
A practical colour or fleck
A good quality underlay
A texture that can cope with regular foot traffic
A finish that still looks smart in a busy part of the home

Stairs and hallways take a lot of daily use, so it is worth choosing carefully.

Pop into our Lee Mill showroom and we’ll help you compare suitable options.

Seen a carpet you like somewhere else?

Bring us a photo, sample, product name or colour reference and we’ll see if we can source it for you.

If we cannot get the exact carpet, we can often suggest something close in colour, texture, quality or price point.

It means you can keep the look you like, while still getting local advice, proper measuring and professional fitting.

Pop into our Lee Mill showroom and we’ll talk it through.

Carpet, luxury vinyl or laminate?

The right choice often comes down to how the room is used day to day.

Carpet works well in bedrooms, stairs and living spaces where you want warmth and comfort.
Luxury vinyl tiles, such as Amtico or Karndean, are a practical option for kitchens, bathrooms and open-plan areas.
Laminate can suit busy areas where you want something durable that still looks the part.

At our Lee Mill showroom, you can compare carpets and flooring from trusted names including Cormar, Abingdon Flooring, Floor Love, Amtico, Karndean and Lifestyle Floors.

Seeing the options side by side makes it much easier to choose what works for your home.

Customers coming back to us means a great deal.

A recent Google review said:

“Have used Western Carpets before and as usual great service from all staff throughout the whole process. Really happy with our lovely new carpet and underlay. Certainly would recommend this company.”

That kind of feedback usually comes down to the process being clear from the start. Measuring properly, helping you choose the right product, and making sure the fitting is done as it should be.

You’ve done the spring clean, moved the furniture and opened the windows, but the room still feels a bit tired.

Sometimes it’s not the paint, the cushions or the layout. It’s the flooring.

Carpets take a lot of daily use, especially in living rooms, bedrooms, stairs and hallways. Over time, they can flatten, mark and lose the finish that makes a room feel fresh.

If you’re looking around this spring and wondering whether it’s time to replace rather than clean, it’s worth getting a proper view of your options.

Pop into our Lee Mill showroom or get in touch to arrange a free measure. We’ll help you choose something that suits the room and how you use it.
