🔥 Restoring 1970s L. Lange & Co. Cast Iron Stove - FINAL UPDATE 🔥
A customer recently reached out asking to bring their late granddad’s stove back to life. Handed down through generations, this 1970s Danish classic needed serious care to restore it to its former glory.
Once back in the workshop, we fully stripped and sandblasted every single panel which revealed significant hidden damage. Nearly every cast plate was cracked, and the internal components were entirely burnt out. With original parts completely obsolete, we set to work hand fabricating new internal baffle and firebrick setups from scratch, followed by precision welding every crack in the heavy casting.
For the finish, the customer opted for a striking custom scheme: Forest Green main body with bold Copper highlights.
Bright white side panels featuring the classic woodland artwork, hand-painted in copper (12 hours of meticulous detail per side).
A bespoke handmade Irish flag hearth extension / ash lip.
A custom-engraved solid brass memorial plaque to honor their granddad.
Over 60 hours of total workshop labor went into this custom restoration. It was a privilege to turn an obsolete, damaged heirloom into a piece of functional art that will keep their granddad's memory alive for decades to come.
