Did you know that a burn in your carpet doesn't always need a patch? 🔥
At The Carpet Repair Guys, we've developed specialist non-patch burn repair techniques that allow us to repair certain carpet burns without needing any spare carpet and, importantly, without automatically cutting a patch-sized hole out of your existing carpet.
This is a service we've developed from more than 30 years of experience in the carpet industry, and it's something we're incredibly proud to offer. Customers often contact us believing their only options are finding a matching piece of spare carpet, having a patch fitted or replacing the carpet completely. In many cases, there's another option.
Our approach is always to assess the damage first and use the least intrusive repair method that will give the best possible result. Sometimes a patch genuinely is necessary, but when one of our specialist non-patch techniques is suitable, why cut your carpet unnecessarily?
It's particularly useful for landlords, letting agents and estate agents, where a carpet may have one unsightly iron burn or other localised burn but no matching spare carpet is available. Instead of immediately considering replacement, speak to us first and see what's possible.
We provide specialist carpet burn repairs throughout London, Kent, Surrey and Essex. If you've got a burn in your carpet, send us a photograph. You might be surprised by what we can do without a patch.
The Carpet Repair Guys – specialists in repairing the damage others might tell you needs cutting out.

So, who actually is The Carpet Repair Guy?
I'm Richard, and I've spent over 30 years working in the carpet industry, helping people get out of those horrible little situations where one bit of damage suddenly makes an otherwise perfectly good carpet look ruined.
Iron burns, pet damage, moth damage, damaged stairs, ripped carpets, doorway damage, loose carpets – I've seen just about everything over the years. And one of the biggest things experience teaches you is that the obvious repair isn't always the best repair. Sometimes customers contact me convinced they need a patch or even a completely new carpet, when there's actually another way of repairing it.
That's what I love about this job. It's not simply about knowing how to put a patch into a carpet. It's about understanding carpets well enough to look at the damage and work out the best possible way of repairing it. After more than three decades doing this, I've developed and learned techniques that can sometimes save carpets customers genuinely believed were finished.
I'm also proud to be one of the few people in the country teaching carpet repair to others. I think there's something quite special about reaching a point in your career where you're not only carrying out the work yourself, but passing those skills and knowledge on to the next generation of carpet repair professionals.
Today, The Carpet Repair Guys covers London, Kent, Surrey and Essex, helping customers save damaged carpets and, wherever possible, avoid the cost and inconvenience of unnecessary replacement.
So if you've damaged your carpet and you're wondering whether it can be saved, send us a picture. You might be surprised at what's possible.
And if you're going to trust somebody with your carpet, you may as well choose somebody who's been doing it for over 30 years – and teaches other people how to do it too. 😉
The Carpet Repair Guys – experience you can trust, repairs you might not have thought possible.

Today I had to cancel a carpet repair job in London because there was nowhere to park, and I have to say, it's getting ridiculous. A customer living in London contacted us because they needed a tradesperson to come to their home and carry out a repair. We were ready to do the job, we had all the tools and equipment we needed, but the one thing we didn't have was somewhere we were legally allowed to put the van.
I completely understand that London needs parking restrictions. I understand resident bays, keeping roads clear and controlling traffic, and I've got absolutely no problem paying a reasonable amount to park while we're working. What I don't understand is having residential streets where there is effectively no practical option whatsoever for a tradesperson to park. What exactly are we supposed to do?
A tradesperson's van isn't just transport – it's part of our workplace. Plumbers, electricians, builders, locksmiths and companies like ours carry specialist tools, machinery and materials that we need throughout the job. Telling tradespeople to park miles away or use public transport simply isn't realistic. And a loading bay doesn't solve the problem either. We're not delivering a parcel and leaving; we're working inside someone's property, sometimes for several hours.
People living in London still need tradespeople. Boilers still break, pipes still leak, electrics still need repairing and carpets still get damaged. Yet we're making it increasingly difficult for the very people providing those services to actually reach their customers. The alternative is to risk a substantial parking fine simply for turning up to do a job someone has specifically asked you to do. How is that sensible?
Surely there should be a proper London-wide system for legitimate tradespeople. I'm not saying give us free parking. Register our vans, let us provide the address we're working at and charge us a sensible amount – just give us somewhere legal to park while we do our jobs.
Today's customer wanted their carpet repaired. We wanted to repair it. We had everything needed to do the repair. The job was cancelled because there was nowhere to put the van.
London needs its tradespeople. Maybe it's about time it gave us somewhere to bloody park.

Yesterday’s job was a perfect example of why carpet repair can be such a good alternative to replacement.

A permanent foundation makeup stain had been left right in the middle of the carpet in a luxury home. It had already been professionally cleaned, but unfortunately, it simply wasn’t coming out — and it had become a complete eyesore.

At that point, there was only one realistic option: remove the damaged section and carry out a patch repair.

The result completely transformed the area, and most importantly, the customer was really pleased.

Instead of replacing an otherwise perfectly good carpet, we were able to repair the problem area — saving them the cost, hassle and upheaval of a full carpet replacement.

Sometimes cleaning can only go so far. That’s where specialist carpet repair comes in. 👌

Today’s emergency was caused by a bottle of drain cleaner that had leaked inside a shopping bag.

The customer got home, put the bag down on the carpet, and by the time they realised what had happened, the acid had eaten straight through the carpet, leaving a hole where the fibres had literally dissolved.

The good news? It didn’t need a new carpet.

Using one of our specialist repair techniques, we were able to remove the damaged section and carry out a professional repair, saving the customer the cost and disruption of a full replacement.

Sometimes it’s not burns, pets or moths… sometimes it’s a shopping bag.

Have you ever seen damage like this before?

This week was a really proud moment for me.
After more than 30 years in the carpet industry, I delivered one of our new one-to-one carpet repair courses.
Over the years, I've been lucky enough to learn so much from working on thousands of carpets. Every repair has taught me something new, and over time I've developed techniques and methods that simply come from years of hands-on experience.
For a long time, people have asked me if I'd ever teach carpet repair.
The answer has always been that if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it properly.
That's why these aren't classroom courses with lots of people. They're completely one-to-one, giving me the time to really explain not just how to carry out a repair, but why we choose certain methods, how to think through a repair, and how to achieve the best possible result.
These courses also aren't something that anyone can simply book online.
I want to work with the right people.
People who already have some experience, who genuinely want to learn, who care about doing things properly and who will take what they've learned and build something with it.
If that's you, I'd love to hear from you.
Seeing someone leave with new confidence, new skills and a completely different way of looking at carpet repair makes all the years of experience worth sharing.
This is only the beginning, and I'm really excited to see where these courses go.
If you're interested in learning professional carpet repair and think you'd be a good fit, send me a message and let's have a chat.

✨ This one really made our hearts sink when we first saw it...
Our customer in Guildford had only recently had this beautiful luxury loop pile carpet fitted. It looked absolutely stunning.
Then, while moving some furniture, it caught the carpet and pulled one of the loops.
You can imagine how gutted they were. After investing in such a high-end carpet, this was the last thing they expected to happen.
The good news? They contacted us before attempting a DIY repair.
Loop pile carpets are some of the most difficult carpets to repair properly, and every repair has to be approached differently. With the right techniques, plenty of patience and a lot of experience, we were able to restore the damaged area to an incredible standard.
The transformation really was something special, and the customer couldn't believe the result.
If you've damaged your carpet, don't automatically assume it needs replacing. Whether it's a pull, snag, burn or something else, there's often far more that can be done than people realise.
Send us a few photos and we'll always give you honest advice on the best way forward.

🔥 Burnt your carpet with the iron? Don't panic just yet!
One of the most common calls we receive is for iron burns, and the good news is that not every iron burn needs a patch repair.
Over the years we've developed a number of different repair methods, so when you get in touch, we'll always talk you through the options and recommend the one that we believe will give you the best possible result.
Every carpet is different, and every burn is different too. That's why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Sometimes a repair can be carried out without replacing any of the carpet at all, while other situations may require a patch. It all depends on the type of carpet and the extent of the damage.
Our aim is always the same – to give you honest advice and achieve the best result possible, not simply the quickest fix.
So if you've accidentally caught your carpet with the iron, don't assume it needs replacing. Send us a photo and we'll let you know the best way forward.
