Every project starts here. A limestone fireplace surround, soft linen, a gilded arched mirror and "New White" walls: calm, warm and true to the Victorian bones of the house.
Here's a recap of the design progress so far..
Colour-drenched built-ins, walnut bench seating, a fluted pedestal table and cane chairs. Notice the globe wall light? Keep swiping, because it didn't make the final cut 👀
Real life, mid-renovation. Antique brass switches and sockets were chosen to pick up the warmth of the mirror and timber. Behind the scenes, we found damp in one corner, which is very common in period homes, so damp proofing had to go in before the carpentry can finish. Not glamorous, but doing it properly matters more than doing it fast.
Full-height panelling, colour-drenched in one soft white so the detail does the talking. The original wall lights looked perfect on the moodboard, but in the room the scale wasn't right against the panels, so we swapped them for these half-moon fabric sconces, providing beautiful warm uplights. A moodboard is a direction, not a contract.
Column radiator in a bronze finish, set against fluted walnut and herringbone oak. Heating doesn't have to be an afterthought.
The textures and tones are all coming together.

It's moments like this that I love, you can see the vision coming to life.
