Fischel Bentwood coat stand.
Founded Austria in 1871 in competition to Thonet bentwood furniture by David Gabriel Fischel using the same steam bending techniques. (His son had previously worked in a Czech Thonet factory).
Original paper label making this piece likely pre 1918 (dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire).

Label for P.E Gane of Bristol, a business associated with the designer Marcel Breuer.
The long established 19thC firm started by Henry Trapnell , under the control of Philip Gane in the first part of the 20thC became well known for up to date art nouveau and and art deco/modernist furniture.
