The finishing touches might look effortless… but they certainly don’t happen by accident.

From selecting the perfect lamps and placing candles, to styling a sideboard and creating a beautifully considered dining space, every detail has a purpose.

As an interior designer, I create the vision from the very beginning and then bring that vision to life — carefully planning the furniture, lighting, accessories, textures and styling so that everything works together as one cohesive scheme.

It’s not simply about filling a room with beautiful things. It’s about knowing what to choose, where to place it and importantly, when to stop.

These little details are what take a room from finished to complete.

My clients don’t just receive a design — they receive a plan, a fully considered scheme and ultimately, a space that is ready to enjoy.

And yes… I do love a beautifully styled sideboard!

It’s amazing what the right rug can do for a space…

A rug isn’t just a finishing touch, it can define a space, add warmth, introduce texture and colour and bring individual pieces of furniture together to create a cohesive interior.

I love using rugs as a way of adding another layer to a scheme, whether that’s through subtle texture and neutral tones or a bolder pattern that becomes a feature in its own right.

In my client’s house, the Nkuku glass table was a deliberate choice. When space and natural light are important considerations, glass can create a wonderful sense of airiness, allowing the rug and surrounding furniture to remain visible without adding visual weight.

It’s often the combination of these seemingly simple choices that makes a room feel balanced, considered and effortlessly finished.

I always think great interior design is all in the layers. 🤍

Sticking with kids’ bedrooms…

When space is at a premium, good design becomes even more important.

This room was all about creating a space that could do it all—a place to sleep, study, play and grow. I want to ensure the space looked great without feeling cramped. By incorporating a bunk bed with a desk underneath, I maximised every bit of space while still keeping the room feeling light, fun and functional.

Adding wallpaper was the perfect way to inject personality and create a feature that sparks imagination without overwhelming the space. It’s these thoughtful details that make a bedroom feel uniquely theirs.

As an interior designer, I don’t just think about how a room looks today. I design spaces that work for families, adapt as children grow and make everyday life that little bit easier—all while creating a room your child will love coming home to. It’s important to me to meet my families to gain an understanding of them, this then underpins my design choices. On that note, I met a lovely new family last week and it’s time to design a bedroom fit for the loveliest little boys! 🚜 🤍

Designing a child’s bedroom is about so much more than choosing a pretty colour palette.

It’s about creating a space that works for everyday life—where imagination, practicality and personality come together beautifully.

As an interior designer, I look beyond the aesthetics. I consider how the room will grow with your child, how every inch of space can work harder, where storage is needed, how furniture can be both functional and timeless and how thoughtful styling can create a room that feels magical without compromising on practicality.

The little details matter too. A playful feature, a cosy reading corner, beautiful textures or a touch of whimsy can transform a bedroom into a place where memories are made.

It’s important that children’s bedrooms don’t just look beautiful—they support play, learning, rest and growing up.

One of my clients’ favourite parts of the design journey? The mood tray.

While floor plans and visuals are invaluable, there’s something special about being able to see and touch the materials that will bring a space to life. From fabrics and finishes to furniture influences and colour palettes, each mood tray tells the story of the space before a single item arrives on site.

It helps my clients visualise how everything works together, understand the layering of textures and feel confident in the design direction long before installation day.

Design isn’t just about how a room looks—it’s about how it feels and a mood tray is often the first moment a client truly connects with their future space.

Creating a vision for a tired, underused space and transforming it into a dedicated home wellness retreat - what a project and this one was ours!

This space was designed with recovery, relaxation and wellbeing at its heart, featuring a .recovery Infra-Red Sauna and Elite Recovery Ice Bath to create the ultimate restorative environment.

Extensive research was carried out into UK sauna suppliers before selecting the right products to deliver both quality and performance.

A huge thank you to Chris at for undertaking the complete transformation, including the full refit, electrics, flooring, fit-out, and conversion work that brought this vision to life.

From forgotten room to wellness sanctuary — proof that every space has potential.

Well…I have been working on a top secret project. The lovely owners Danny and Christine of Punto Kilmacolm unexpectedly had to close their restaurant after finding a leak under the floor. What was thought to be a small challenge resulted in their lovely business being closed for 12 weeks.

With the full floor needing replaced, this gave them the opportunity to use the time wisely and they decided to make Punto more functional for their team and also undertake a redesign internally. I was only too delighted to support their ideas and design the following:

🤍 Paint palette selection
🤍 Feature wall selection
🤍 Guide install of a more functional bar area
🤍 Help with fabric selection for new bench seating (awaiting install)
🤍 Orange chairs was client preference, I helped source speedy delivery
🤍 A nod to their roots, collating old photos and displaying
🤍 All interior styling and artwork

Danny and Christine were keen to retain all of the original features that make Punto the place customers know and love, so all exposed brick and original wood panels retained. Thanks to Chris the manager for herb idea 😉. Time was of the essence in this project and on final styling day it was lovely to spend time with the fab Punto team.

My ongoing project is progressing well. Following a recent site visit, all designs for each of the four ensuite bedrooms and the grand open plan lounge have now been approved.

Regular calls with the team based at Machrihanish Golf Club and the contractors allows me to give quick answers to queries and make decisions are key. It’s a 7.5 hour round trip by car afterall, but now one of my favourite places and people to visit ⛳️.

A timeless design that has used the natural outdoor environment to help select the colour palette with high-end furniture selections will make for the perfect space for golfing guests to lay their heads when they come to stay.

An ongoing pleasure to work on this project 🤍
