Goodlife Bees My apiaries are located in Necton, Norfolk producing great tasting, pure honey. I also make beeswax candles and wraps. Zero waste!

My honey is only filtered once to remove any debris from the extracting process and is not heat treated, leaving you a great tasting product with all the health benefits. Beeswax candles not only smell wonderful, but have a bright, warm tone flame with a longer burn time. They are known for their air purifying properties and are believed to help allergy and asthma sufferers alike. I also make Beeswax wraps, ditch the plastic and wrap your food with these eco friendly wraps. With just pure beeswax organic coconut oil and 100% cotton, they are natural, antibacterial, reusable and biodegradable. They are handmade so sizes are approximate:
Large - 35 x 30cm
Medium - 26 x 23cm
Small - 18 x 18cm

Happy National Honey Day ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ

Today we celebrate the remarkable honeys produced by beekeepers right across Britain with every jar reflecting the flowers, landscape and seasons of the place it came from.

And thereโ€™s more variety than you might think: look out for runny honey, smooth soft-set, chunk honey, or whole honeycomb straight from the hive, each with its own distinct texture, flavour and character.

So if you havenโ€™t already, pick up a jar of local honey, share it with friends or family, and really savour it.

Not sure where to find some? The BBKAโ€™s interactive honey map helps you track down beekeepers and local honey near you: https://buff.ly/SiTSHCb

Bought a jar? Weโ€™d love to see it.
Share a photo using and tell us how it tastes. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The True Value of a Spoonful of Honey ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ

A worker honeybee lives for around six weeks. During the first three weeks of her life, she works tirelessly inside the hive, cleaning cells, feeding larvae, and caring for the colony. Only in her final three weeks does she leave the hive to forage for nectar.

In that short foraging career, a single honeybee produces just 1/12 of a teaspoon of honeyโ€”less than 4/1000 of a teaspoon per day. That means it takes around 252 bees working for a full day to produce just one teaspoon of honey.

A worker bee can collect approximately 1.4 millilitres (0.05 oz) of nectar each day. While that may seem small, thousands of foraging bees working together gather an incredible amount of nectar, which is transformed into the honey we enjoy.

To put that into perspective, one teaspoon of honey weighs around 7 grams. Since one bee produces only about 0.6 grams during her lifetime, it takes the work of approximately 755 bees to produce one pound (453 g) of honey.

A strong honeybee colony might produce a 60-pound surplus of honey in a good season. That's the equivalent of around 45,000 worker bee lifetimes devoted to foraging.

The next time you enjoy a spoonful of honey, rememberโ€”it's the result of thousands of tiny journeys, millions of flowers visited, and the extraordinary teamwork of an entire colony ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ

There are currently over 35,000 beekeepers in the UK keeping around 250,000 colonies. This is many less colonies than after the Second World War. UK beekeepers are often small-scale hobby beekeepers.
There are around 400 Bee Farmers in the UK.
Beekeepers are mindful of the need for responsible and sustainable beekeeping in balance with other pollinators and wider biodiversity.
