The Fent Shop (P F Day and Son) is small family business started over 50 years ago, trading in Broad Street, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. We have been a Royal Warrant as purveyor of dress fabrics and haberdashery to Her Majesty the Queen since 2011. We stock many kinds of dress fabric, huge selection of craft fabrics, haberdashery, buttons, knitting yarns and accessories, curtain fabric, net curtaining and much more. Everything you need for your latest sewing project, for yourself, gifts for others or for your home, all under one roof.We stock the full range of patterns from Simplicity, Vogue, Butterick, McCalls and New Look, Anchor silks and tapestry wools, upholstery foam cut to size, leatherette, calico, ribbons, braids and trimmings. We also have Style Furnishings range of made to measure curtains and accessories. We have been working super hard for weeks now and can finally reveal the first stage of what we've been up to.....

We've moved our knitting department downstairs! 🤯🥳

All our knitting accessories, patterns and yarns are now located on our ground floor.
We've planned and measured and worked incredibly hard behind the scenes and out of hours to make your shopping experience easier.
We've made loads of space and haven't compromised by losing anything at all from our ground floor, in fact we've still been getting new stock and haberdashery!

Just look at this lovely little dress that Pearl has made for her granddaughter 😍
This festive tartan is actually from our bargain shelf 🤯
It's a poly viscose tartan with a broidery anglaise trim and bias bound neck and sleeves. The pattern is a current Simplicity one and can be used for older children as well.
We love it and we think this will look great for the festive season 🎄

🧶 BRAND NEW AUTUMN YARNS 🍂

Another one of the new yarns we ordered at the knit show has arrived. A 75% premium acrylic 25% wool DK weight from Stylecraft in 8 shades, Life DK Wash.
This versatile yarn can be used with most standard DK patterns, however we've had a selection of new patterns which combine the other new yarn we showed you last week. The patterns have textured details and colour work with some tank tops ideal for layering up in this autumn weather.
We couldn't resist ordering this as it reminded us so much of one of our favourite yarns Batik, which is no longer available.

Photos really don't do the 8 shades justice, pop in and have a look and choose your autumn knitting project.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

We're sharing a few photos of our recent visit to London with you this week.
On Sunday two of us visited the King's Gallery to view the exhibition of Queen Elizabeth II : Her Life In Style. This brings the total number of staff who have visited this exhibition to four, which gives you an idea of how much it means to us.
From 2004 we dealt with Angela Kelly and the dressmaking department at Buckingham Palace, which led to us being awarded a Royal Warrant in 2011. We were always proud to be able to provide dress fabrics and haberdashery for Her Majesty The Queen, even better if we saw something we recognised when she was photographed in public. (Obviously we were sworn to secrecy about the specific items we supplied and we still honour that today!)
The exhibition is a true journey through the decades and a really marvellous tribute to the designers and makers who created the garments on display. We booked the tickets over six months ago when the exhibition was first announced, no wonder it sold out and an extension had to be made, it's a triumph.
Thoroughly recommend it, it's a true celebration of British fashion, designers and makers, well worth the visit.

🧶 BRAND NEW AUTUMN YARNS 🍂

One of the new yarns we ordered at the knit show has finally arrived. A 100% wool DK weight from Stylecraft in a whopping 32 shades.
This versatile yarn can be used with most standard DK patterns, is machine washable at 30, has 110mt to a 50g ball and is soft and durable.
We've had a selection of patterns which combine the other new yarn we ordered, which we will show you next week, Life DK Wash. The patterns have textured details and colour work with some tank tops ideal for layering up in this autumn weather.

Remember that massive order we placed last month? Well we've just had the last few bits of it arrive, along with a few bits we just had to order at the Knit Show.
There's more cotton prints, a beautiful faux fur and a lyocell twill. Oh and some gold foil we just couldn't resist too. We're already planning craft room curtains with the sewing themed one!

Autumn feels like it's finally on its way 🍂
We've got a great selection of faux fur and fleece fabric in stock which are perfect for autumn.
We have had several new faux furs in this month that would be great for fursuits, toys and craft projects. The faux fur is available as small (approximately 50cm) squares which makes it a great buy for small projects.
