I've been a bit quiet recently because I've been busy making things! Two weeks ago I spent the weekend in Glasgow for a Scottish glass society course with Amanda Simmons on platter making. Really nice to do glass with others for a change. So since returning home I have been making some!

After the lovely Autumn we had this year here are two Autumn birch fused glass designs. The trees for both are made using the glass powder crackle technique, which makes beautiful cracked birch bark textures- this work followed on directly from the powders courses I have been teaching and a question asked by one student! The trees are made in advance then all the other elements- vitrigraph stringers, frit of various grades, glass pieces and more- are combined in a single firing to create these rich designs. The stands were purchased specifically for these pieces to show them off to their best advantage.

So far I have made 4 different designs which are now located in my gallery, the 1896 gallery in Boat of Garten and the Full Circle gallery in Grantown. One is saved for the SBSA Christmas fair. Come and see them there!
