We are delighted to announce that the man behind Grooves and Garden Square, Neil Stevenson, was today announced as one of the shortlisted nominees for Entrepreneur of the Year at the British Business Awards 2026. This award acknowledges the exceptional entrepreneur who can showcase outstanding vision, leadership and entrepreneurial flair in founding and advancing a business.

Since he opened Grooves Records in 1990, Neil has launched several new businesses in Kirkwall, renovating and securing the future of 18 properties in Kirkwall along the way. Garden Square has been Neil’s largest project, and biggest risk to date, but his mind is already on what comes next, with plans for Anchor Buildings beginning to take shape.

The British Business Awards 2026 take place in Edinburgh on Thursday 30th April, hosted by Rob Brydon and Elaine C. Smith. The ceremony attracts up to 2,000 UK business leaders and this year will feature keynote speeches from Bob Geldof and George Clooney.

All his employees would like to congratulate Neil on the much-deserved nomination and wish him the very best of luck for the awards.
