I hate trends, especially Instagram trends.
But ironically I am jumping on this one as its a chance to voice opinions on things you don't always get to address.

I don't think mine are controversial...but might spark a conversation ?

I hate AI.
Really hate it.

I'm sick of it already and we've barely begun.

I hate it so much I'm actively deleting it from my devices and work as much as possible.
I can't do much to stop it, but I won't use or buy into something I fundamentally disagree with.

Thoughts?

I'm not saying interior design is easy in any capacity...but making a beautiful big home with a nice big budget, look even more beautiful is a GIFT.
The real challenge is taking a home with restrictions like budget, space and family needs...and still creating an amazing space.
My kind of challenge!

I was trained to draw by hand by a draughtsman and its how creative ideas flow from my brain, right into my pencil.
It's a skill I cherish which many other designers can't do, and it adds a personal touch which a computer just cannot do...so I'll keep doing it for as long as my client's enjoy it.

Trends are for sheep who like to spend money endlessly.
We are not sheep...we are lovers of art and colour, beauty and history.

Your home is a way to showcase the things you love.
So you do you and forget the stupid trends.

5 things I add to every home...even a minimalistic new build.

Each one builds in character, story and a sense of the people who live there.

A little Friday BEFORE & AFTER
(It's a small one but a good one!)

This bathroom started life a little sad with outdated decor and a layout which didn't work.

Bespoke cabinetry stretches under the window to maximise space and the vanity & Wc swapped places (see all the extra storage? = bathroom heaven!)

I love the strong floor rile combined with simpler off white quartz and oak veneer cabinetry..with little hints of brushed brass throughout.

The underused bath tub tool up way too much space in this compact room...

So we swapped it for a generous shower and opened up the floor space.

One of my favourite design elements is the textured wallpaper flooding the ceiling and walls in the rich rust tone. It really adds a sense of old glamour.

The outdated tiles were crying out for a face-lift, so of course they had to go....
..transformed with minty white soldier brick tiles to brighten the space and provide contrast to the deeper walls.

Taking the wallpaper onto the ceiling gave this shower enclosure a cosy and cocooning feel.

I also added a tiled ledge for the everyday shower items to be just in reach.

Mismatched furniture & blank boring walls be gone!

Just look at how gorgeously tactile this paper it.
Reflected in this leather strap hanging mirror, I added brushed brass wall lights which softly glow for a soothing experience.

Oak veneer cabinetry feels timeless and fresh, especially when paired with brush brass k***s and decor...and hides away unsightly plumbing, whilst providing lots of storage.

What a transformation...a perfect mix of contemporary finishes, a functional layout and vintage inspired finishing touches.

Selecting textured fabrics & upholstery for a design scheme today, from some of my latest favourites from ILIV

This has a raised boucle pattern in the most gorgeous shade rust: ARLISSE HENNA
.. destined to be an extra wide bed cushion

Similar pattern to the first, but embroidered with a warm Mustard background.
Perfect colour tone for Autumn.

SCRIPT OCHRE

Also stunning in black. Just imagine it adorning a rich velvet armchair

SCRIPT GRAPHITE

Hard to choose between these linear embroidered options, but I love the simplicity of the design, with an elevated texture:

Finally, the combination of browns and Oranges in this striped dotted design is beautiful

Budgeting for your project doesn't stop at flooring and lighting.
Don't forget to allow for these important finishing touches too...

The Alliyah mirror is from William Wood and it's a stunning piece.

Love the whole collection from THE SUFFOLK NEST Ashlee Jane ...but cushions with fringing have my heart.
Don't skimp on these details!

Frame anything you like...photos, postcodes, notes, sketches...but allow a realistic budget for good quality framing as it can add up right at the end of your project.

Beautiful hardware is everywhere at the moment, you're spoilt for choice!
So budget accordingly to ensure the things you touch every single day feels and looks good.

Nice bedding is not a finishing touch in my opinion. It's an essential for your bedroom.

Naturalmat have the most incredible natural fibre bedding you will never go back to synthetic bedding.

My job as an interior designer, is to see the potential in every space.
Even the tiny ones.

This compact space has to work so hard for my client, as a guest room for occasional family visits and a work from home desks when she needs it.

Currently the room lacks colour or cohesion...that's where I come in!
I've got BIG plans for this tiny space

The view may be urban but the interior is set to feel cosy, soothing and take my client back to her happy place...the beach.
This means layers of texture, warm tones and well chosen pieces.

Functionally, my client needs the desk corner to work much harder than it is.
So with my bespoke cabinet maker, we're upping the function and making it beautiful too

A steal from a charity shop, my client's painting really sets the tone for the rest of the scheme.
The muted colour palette, the soft lighting and calm coastal setting.
So it will get pride of place above the bed once it's reframed.

Small spaces need extra attention to detail when it comes to space planning so my technical hand drawings (no AI here folks!) ensure everything fits, opens and functions perfectly.

The scheme takes inspiration from the painting but offers so much more, from textured wallpaper, linen fabrics, the most stunning cushion upholstery and lighting.
I can't wait to share this one as it develops, so stay tuned!
