We wanted to take the time to explain the difference between a wax melter and an oil burner. A question we're often asked at markets.
A wax melter should be at least 10cm high and for safety should have at least a 6.5cm gap between the flame and the dish the wax cube goes in. We recommend, for safety, a 4 hour tealight be used. Any longer and it risks overheating.
An oil burner is typically much smaller in height with a flame closer to the dish the oil goes in, to achieve a hotter temperature for the oil to release it's fragrance. These are not suitable for wax melts as the wax will overheat.
We now sell a grey ceramic wax melter, with two free 4 hour tealights to get you started, for £12. Our packs of six wax melts are £6 each in a wide range of fragrances.
