Bedroom refresh ✨

Ad | After decorating our bedroom, I loved the room itself but I just didn’t feel like our old furniture and bedding quite fit the vibe I had in my head anymore… and DUSK.com have helped me bring the vision to life 🥹

The new bed, furniture and bedding have completely changed the feel of the room and it finally feels like everything belongs together 🤍

It’s giving pink, cosy cottage vibes and I just love it SO much 🌸🤍

We do need to add a little extra panelling behind the bed now as the new headboard sits lower than our old one (another job for the list 😂), but I genuinely couldn’t wait any longer to show you the transformation!

What do we think?! ✨

One of those decisions that felt absolutely terrifying at the time… and now we can’t imagine life without this place 🥹🤎

Buying a house is such a huge leap and I don’t think you ever feel completely ready for it. There’s always a reason to wait, save a little more or convince yourself the timing isn’t quite right.

But sometimes you just have to take the risk and figure the rest out as you go.

A couple of years, countless DIY projects and a LOT of changes later, that scary decision gave us our favourite place in the world 🏡✨

And I’d do it all over again 🤷🏼‍♀️

We heard all the usual things before buying a new build “they have no character”, “they’re all the same”, “the rooms are too small”…

But for us, having a completely blank canvas was one of the best parts.

Over the last couple of years we’ve slowly turned ours into a home that feels like us, adding character, colour and all the little details along the way, with plenty still left on the list 👀

Turns out you don’t have to buy a house with character… you can create it yourself ✨

Things you can’t have in a new build: character, charm, personality… apparently 👀

A new build might start as a blank white box, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. Over the last couple of years we’ve slowly added panelling, colour, pattern, texture and all those little details that make a house feel like home 🤎

There’s still plenty we want to change and add, but I’ll never understand the idea that character has to come with the house.

Sometimes you just have to create it yourself ✨

Okay, maybe that was a little harsh 😂

But I’ll always defend new builds when people say they’re boring, soulless or have no character.

Of course they don’t have much character when you first get the keys, they’re essentially a blank canvas. What you do with that blank canvas is completely up to you.

We’ve spent the last couple of years adding panelling, colour, texture and all the little details that make our house feel like our home… and we’re nowhere near finished yet 👀

New builds aren’t boring. They just need someone to give them a personality.
