It is Fabulous Friday at the collective, and we are getting ready for a lovely weekend as the sun is finally due to come out.

Whether you are a local resident out for a weekend stroll or a visitor exploring Launceston for the holidays, our shelves are packed with fresh work from our independent makers. With Father's Day just around the corner on the 21st, it is also the perfect time to find a thoughtful gift that you won't see on the high street.

Our Featured Artist on the wall this month is Richard Hudson. This is what he tells us about himself:

I am a part-time teacher who spends a significant amount of time drawing, painting and printmaking. I exhibit and sell my work in Cornwall. In the past, I have exhibited and sold in the U.K. and the U.A.E.

My current creative practice is somewhat eclectic; I draw, paint and make prints. I am interested in the sense of a place and the connections that people have to it. Through my interest in climbing, I have encountered people, places and stories that have shaped my work.

My less commercial work explores the space between life and death and relationships between people and ideas – loss, longing, melancholy, trickery and hope. I am particularly interested in adding to and exploiting my knowledge of local legends (many of which relate to my experiences on Fowey Moor or the North coast) and focusing on the re-interpretation of these stories or allegories.

We also have a great range of greeting cards from Richard alongside our other talented artists.
