Ok here is a little story.
I have in the past managed to cyanotype on to aluminium. Hooray. This happened successfully twice. On a practice and one on enough metal to make some earrings - which sold quite quickly. Again hooray. However I then tried and tried and tried again, to no avail!! Followed the same steps I had used before, but no, washed straight off.
Today, (and well done for getting this far) success again!! Hooray.
So look out for a few pieces because it may nave happened again 🤣🤣

**** Workshop alert ****
Yes after a break of doing workshops I am back to them. First up is introduction to Lino print.
You can expect a relaxed experience over 3 hours, so no need to rush. All materials provided and that includes tasty treats. You will draw out a design (ideas will be provided if needed and honestly you really don’t have to worry about the quality of the drawing). We will transfer to a Lino block and after a practice you will carve your block. Then you will print in a single colour, you will have your block to take home to reuse and the prints you make on the day. All in Leamington Spa town centre.
Dates are 11th July and 12th September both 10.30 to 1.30. Any questions feel free to ask. To book go to https://lsa-artists.org/exhibitions/workshops/

Looking forward to see you.

Others still to be arranged including Cyanotype

Well after a weekend in Stratford upon Avon at the Pursuits Festival I was looking forward to cracking on with the Sunflowers. Decided to put down base colour of leaves first so that a can carve the details. Then got on with the Sunflower’s themselves. The plan is to do another version using just this single layer, it is something that I find I have been doing with previous reduction prints and thought I would repeat for this print to. It can help also to get more value for the time involved in a reduction prints.
Anyway watch this space and 🤞

So this is what has been going on today. The Sunflower print I am still really excited about. It is now all drawn out for the next layer (though I did start carving it before remembering that the ink needs to dry first). So started carving the second block I have on the go, the ginkgo’s. Yes I know I just made ginkgo jewellery, I could be in my “ginkgo period”!😹
The last slide was actually the first part of day making some new lamps, mono and lino print.
All packed up ready for Stratford Pursuits tomorrow in Stratford upon Avon. Let hope for a dry and successful weekend.

A little insight into today’s printing. This is a reduction print and needs to be finished before the end of the month ready for Warwickshire Open Studios at the end of June. First a bit of colour mixing and matching, then getting the first block of colour down. Then decided that I would do two versions so a more golden yellow was mixed. The printing was a bit random today, started using the hand press but as I am still meant to be careful with my leg stopped using that as I have to stand for the pressure. Ended up sitting and using the glass baron (so pleased with this) and it worked fine. The ink gods were on my side today.

I have to say I am pleased to be getting the inks out again. Sometimes I think I should just concentrate on one medium but the truth is I enjoy printmaking and I enjoy making jewellery. They both have their place and I shall continue splitting my time between the two. Sometimes one takes over from the other for longer and sometimes ideas filter across from one to the other. I think I am beginning to accept that I will not be a creative that can focus in one area and that, for me, two seemingly opposite work methods actually keep me more creative. Oh and there is the odd drop of Cyanotype too.
