It's always so satisfying to start planting the first outside crops in the kitchen garden. I sowed the broad beans on New years Day. We love them and froze 12 kilos last years, we've only got 3 left!
We've been very busy planting lots of hedges and digging and out eight 14 metre cut flower beds.
Mark, our trusty builder is making me 3 new cold frames today, I'll post the progress later in the week.

It was a wintery day yesterday here at Uplands. The fire was lit, tea drunk, and lots of inside jobs were done. As the antiques business takes a back seat, it's all go getting our six en suite rooms to a high standard. It's natural for us to make guests feel comfortable and looked after. We'll be taking bookings from January and opening in March.

Autumn / Fall at Uplands. Putting the gardens to sleep for the winter can be a formidable task. We’re also putting our business to sleep after 30 years. Next year is going to be a big year for us. Lots of changes. A new chapter. We’ll let you know more soon!

Andy Leavis of Courtyard Antiques passed away peacefully at St Michael's Hospice on Sunday 4th of February aged 61 years.

A much loved Presteigne character who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. A Service of Celebration for Andy's life will take place at St Andrew's Church in Presteigne on Thursday 29th of February at 12 noon.

A corner of the downstairs loo, I love this room, it's warm and cosy. We wallpapered the ceiling. The avocado basin and loo was ten quid from Facebook marketplace.

We thought we heard a bump in the night. Halloween isn't until Tuesday! That painting has been there for 6 years!

Percy is very pleased we're home! Thank you to everyone involved in putting on yet another successful .
