The importance of paper and its significance.
Paper has been produced in one form or another for almost 2000 years. Such a long history has been intertwined with communication and romance.
Paper has been used to record the greatest of discoveries, the most deeply held beliefs, and the most emotive of love stories.
Paper is a medium for communication, an opening to a conversation, and every piece that is handled has a story to tell.
We all know the feeling that we get when someone sends us a handwritten letter, gives us a card or leaves a little personal note. We get to read the emotion in their writing, and the feeling is literally tangible and it gives us something to hold to our heart where-ever we go. The feeling imbued onto paper is never as heartfelt or permanent in a text or an email.
A blank sheet of paper is an invitation. It calls out to be adjusted, to have a mark made on it, for us to use it to pass on a message to others. A blank piece of paper gives hope and allows us to dream of an infinite range of possibilities, from a sketch by Turner to the opening lines of Harry Potter, all is contained in paper.
Paper is special. It is fragile, a delicate leaf, and it requires care and attention, or it may tear and crumble. The potential for it to get lost or damaged exists in every sheet, and so, like love, it must be cherished, lest the message disappear. Paper is there for us to express our hopes and dreams. Paper brings to life our feelings. Paper is our thoughts in the world.
Send someone special a unique papercut this Valentineβs Day, tell them that you love them and give them that love encapsulated in paper.
