Our journey so far

Newshome Candles produces hand-poured luxury candles and wax melts in a Yorkshire studio.

The beautifully scented products are all 100% natural, cruelty-free, and vegan — made from a blend of pure soy wax and pure essential oils.

The business idea for Newshome Candles originally came to life on a cold winter’s day in early 2018, when Chris, the brand’s founder, decided to try making his own candles.

To do so, he did research and then ordered some soy wax and essential oil. He repurposed old glass food jars as containers.

The motivation behind Chris’s initial candle-making was simply to create a cosy environment at home and, potentially, to give handmade candles as Christmas gifts to loved ones.

However, from the first mix and pour, Chris was hooked, and he spent the following 10 months sourcing and testing each element of his candles — from the soy wax to the essential oils; from the containers to the wicks.

Following that, it was time to tackle the packaging — both to house each candle and to safely post them out in an eco-friendly manner.

After a long period of research and testing, Chris was finally 100% happy with the product line he had created and so, in January 2019, the Newshome Candles website was launched.

Since then, Newshome Candles has gone from strength to strength. Chris has attended a plethora of fairs and festivals to showcase his range, and the brand has gained trade partnerships and even been featured on Primal Living TV!

In June 2019, Newshome Candles launched its wax melt range, enabling those who prefer wax burners to also appreciate the brand’s relaxing and uplifting fragrances.

To Chris, Newshome Candles is much more than just a business. In November of 2019, Chris married his beloved, Laura, and the wedding favours were small branded candles in two of the most popular scents — a gift to loved ones for all the support they have given Chris throughout his candle-making journey; from his jam jar candles to the luxury products you see today.
