We were absolutely delighted to see our incredibly talented Em Hicking awarded Best Luxury Design at last night’s Designerati Awards North for her outstanding work on our Architecture of Luxury project in North Leeds.

The moment was made even more special as Em became a new Mummy just two months ago, making this her first industry event since welcoming her little one, so to see her recognised with such a prestigious award on her return was a truly proud moment.

Em joined Grid Thirteen as a graduate, and it feels like only yesterday we were talking about putting her forward as an emerging talent. Watching her evolve into an award-winning designer is a reminder of what can happen when talent is nurtured and given the opportunity to flourish.

Supporting the growth of our team has always been central to who we are, and moments like this make us immensely proud.

Congratulations, Em. Your creativity, dedication and passion continue to raise the bar, and we couldn’t be prouder to have you as part of the Grid Thirteen team.

The brief wasn’t to design a new reception, it was to stop thinking of it as one.

Sometimes the best design starts with looking at a space differently.

Our reception had served its purpose for years, but it no longer reflected who we are or how we design. So, rather than simply updating it, we completely reimagined it as a contemporary home bar.

Layering timeless natural marble, solid brass detailing and rich timber cabinetry, the new design celebrates the beauty of materiality and considered interior architecture, transforming a purely functional space into one that tells our design story from the moment you walk through the studio doors.

Behind the simplicity of the finished design sits months of technical design development. One of the greatest challenges was seamlessly bringing together beautifully bullnosed solid marble with the clean, architectural lines of SieMatic SLX cabinetry, while framing our handcrafted Darling Maeve sideboard with a stunning curved marble wall detailing, it’s this balance of precision engineering and artisan craftsmanship that defines our signature blended approach.

We believe the most successful interiors are those where every material has a purpose and every detail has been carefully resolved, by combining the precision of German cabinetry with the warmth and individuality of handcrafted furniture, we’re able to create spaces that feel refined, personal and made to last.

A special thank you to the Stone Connection team for helping us bring this concept to life, from the beautifully executed bullnosed marble detailing to the curved stonework framing our Darling Maeve sideboard, their craftsmanship, skill and commitment helped realise one of our most technically ambitious showroom displays to date. It certainly wasn’t an easy installation, but the finished result is something we’re incredibly proud of - a true technical achievement made possible through a shared commitment to exceptional craftsmanship.

We were absolutely delighted to see our incredibly talented Em Hicking awarded Best Luxury Design at last night’s Designerati Awards North for her outstanding work on our Architecture of Luxury project in North Leeds.

Hosted by Dr Vanessa Brady OBE, President of SBID, our guest panel features architect Richard Blenkharn, Layla Twizell (Mylands Paints), Holly Stott (Holt Living) and Megan Barr (Hendle & Hendle), who will share their perspectives on the future of luxury residential design, craftsmanship, innovation and the evolving role of technology.
