B E S P O K E C U R T A I N S — The Final Layer ✨

AD | Sometimes it’s the last layer that makes a room finally feel finished…
We lived with these bedroom windows completely bare while I decided what I actually wanted here - and I’m so glad I waited.
The room already has a very soft, neutral palette, so rather than choosing plain curtains, I wanted to bring in pattern and a little colour, without losing the calm feeling of the space.
I chose the Britt Bengoechea Floral Print Linen Cotton Drapery in Crimson BB-V1 , with French pleats and blackout lining. I love how the delicate crimson botanical print works against all the softer tones in the room - enough contrast to add personality, but not so much that it takes over.
And then there’s the fullness… the pleats, the weight of the fabric and the way they fall and gently pool at the floor.

TWOPAGES also kindly gifted us their Tanner Single Curtain Track in Brushed Gold. It’s a beautiful track, although because ours is completely concealed behind the cornice, in hindsight I would have chosen one of their flatter ceiling-mounted tracks here. I think the Tanner deserves to be used somewhere that gorgeous brushed-gold finish can actually be seen! It still works beautifully in our room - we just don’t get to see it.
It’s amazing how much dressing the windows has changed the bedroom. It suddenly feels softer, warmer and much more complete.

And if you’ve been considering TWOPAGES for your own home, they’ve given me a rather brilliant 24% discount for you with code CASAPOKU.
I’ve put the link in my Stories along with all the details, and I’ll save everything to Highlights too.

The shelves are finally styled… although I think we all know “finished” might be pushing it 😂
I actually had a little process for these rather than just putting things on the shelves and hoping for the best.
I started with colour. I tried black accessories first, but somehow they jarred against this room, so I went back to the neutral whites and creams I already had.
Next came my embarrassingly large collection of vases from our previous home - which suddenly felt completely justified 😂 - followed by practically every autumn stem and faux flower I’d stored in the loft.
I tried the richer burgundy hydrangeas first, then the greens… and green just felt right in here🌿
From there it was really about creating balance: different heights, shapes and textures, taller stems alongside shorter hydrangeas, and a few books to break everything up.
Then came my favourite part - moving everything around approximately 473 times until it felt right. 😂
And this is where I’ve landed… for now.
Because I already know I’ll keep adding, subtracting and eternally faffing with these shelves as our home evolves. And actually, I think that’s half the fun.
Would you have chosen the burgundy or the green for this room?

Here we are again… 🤍
Two years ago, this was the front sitting room we inherited - carpet, fireplace, bay window and all.
Today, it’s almost finished - we kept the radiator in the bay and original cornices, we added the ceiling rose to elevate the space, added this gorgeous chandelier .lighting and now waiting for our new sofa to arrive.
It has taken far longer than I imagined to get here, but perhaps that’s not such a bad thing. I’m learning that the rooms we take our time over often become the ones that feel most like us.
And today, there could only really be one soundtrack.
A little play on Here You Come Again for yet another Casa Poku transformation… but mostly, a small tribute to the wonderful Dolly Parton ♥️
An extraordinary woman whose music, warmth, humour and kindness reached far beyond country music.
Thank you for the songs, Dolly.
What a legacy you leave behind✨🤍

Some of my favourite parts of this renovation are the ones you’ll probably never see ☺️
When we planned the loft, I was determined to use every bit of awkward space we could for storage — because after renovating enough homes, I’ve learnt that you can never really have too much of it!
So behind these doors live all the things we need… just not every day.
Christmas decorations 🎄
Suitcases ✈️
Home décor I’m not quite ready to part with 👀
…and all those miscellaneous things that somehow need a home. We also have two wardrobe spaces, Elliot has one extra as he still lives at home and has all his stuff here. I think we might struggle when Andreas also returns home in November but I’m sure we’ll figure it out.
These spaces might not be the prettiest rooms in the house, but having somewhere designated for all of this means the rooms downstairs don’t have to work quite so hard.
Would you rather have a bigger room… or steal some of that space for more storage?

Whenever we visit Greece in the summer, we stay in our holiday home, which is just a 5’ walk from this exact beach. My parents built this home for us ♥️ and they have their own home there, too. One of my cousins also built their own holiday home right opposite ours, so having a holiday there is always special. Sometimes more family visit at the weekends so we have a lot of fun, many dinners together, endless chats on the beach and always a freddo cappuccino, lounger and swim at the start of the day …I love to stay here all day until the sunset arrives, it’s so magical 🌅And I’m still trying to figure out how I can bottle this feeling and bring it with me in the UK 🥹
