An independent interiors & upholstery studio supplying a beautiful range of fabrics & house paints from Edward Bulmer Natural Paints.

We offer a colour consultancy & upholstery service & sell a carefully chosen collection of beautiful goods for your home. We have a selling space within Odeon Antiques in Leek which is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday only. We also sell online through our website and are regulars at Treacle Market in Macclesfield and other fairs and markets around Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire. Our new and vintage homeware is sourced from antique fairs, markets, craft shows and open studios or bought direct from designers and creators. One half of our interiors shop is a growing range of new, handmade pieces from a community of craftspeople. These items are consciously made, always considered and never rushed. The other half is made up of timeless functional vintage items, such as enamelware and hand-dyed vintage French linen. We pick up useful everyday items like Dutch enamel bread bins and vintage bathroom fittings whenever we spot them and we restore and reupholster vintage chairs by classic British furniture brands such as Ercol and Ben Chairs. We look for good materials and well-made objects that have substance, style and stories to tell – we opt for quality and authenticity over fads, fashion and trends. We like to think that everything at Homeward Studio is honest, thoughtfully designed and made with care. We use natural, ethical and recycled materials wherever possible and often choose natural dyes, wool, linen, cotton and screen or block printed woven fabrics.

Its all a go ho ho here! Final fabric orders going in this week for curtain & upholstery projects in time for Christmas...and the gathering of some wonderful things for the season in the shop.

Yesterday I did my last colour consultancy of the year in a brilliant property in the Peak District ...decorating won't start until January 2027 but its going to be bold and exciting. Can't wait to see that progress...

Remember this is my last 2 weeks in the Leek shop before I pack my boxes and pop up for a 4 week residency Haddon Hall MERCATUM from 11th November to 6th December. Looking forward to settling in there.

So if you are local and want to get a few bits from me come and say hello Wednesday to Saturday 11am til 4.30pm on St Edward Street, Leek up until Saturday 7th Nov.

We re so pleased to be back Haddon Hall MERCATUM this year for the first 4 weeks 11th November to 6th December.

We can't wait to settle in amongst the beautiful surroundings of this wonderful medieval hall. Find us in the Great Chamber amongst the tapestries and ancient wood panelling. Everything about this event ouses atmosphere and quality.

Really looking forward to seeing you there. Tickets are selling out fast so book yours today.

It's safe to say there's nothing like a peak season market cancellation to drive me to posting on here! I make no bones about my lack of enthusiasm, time or love of social media. I wholeheartedly much prefer and love 'in real life' ; Whether thats folks wandering into the shop, browsing and an idle chat or visiting clients in their homes to the madness, jolliness and camaraderie of standing at our much loved spot treaclemarket. All this is favourite to uploading a website and learning how to do a reel. I realised recently that its no good really digging my heels into the inevitable but I strive always to be individual and free.

We re all gutted that October Treacle has had to cancel due to the forecasted storms. Never has it been so challenging doing business ( as a micro business) in these crazy times

If anyone local wants to see what Ive been gathering for the seasonal gifting now is your time to catch me. I'm shutting up shop here in Leek for 4 weeks from 9th Nov to 6th December to stand at the wonderful Haddon Hall MERCATUM .. I hope to pop up again at Treacle in November & December too 🤞

Shop in Leek is open Wednesday to Saturday 11am til 4.30pm UP UNTIL 7th NOVEMBER, PLUS this Sunday 25th Oct 9am til 2pm...

Sorry this is a long post! Im ready for my tea and to light the fire, question my life choices with a glass of red w**e and know really that tomorrow is another day!

More shop ....

Pretty rubbish photos ! But just to show you there's some lovely things happening behind the scenes.

This a small barn conversion in the Peak District recently finished & made cosy with Roman blinds and curtains using natural linens, wool/flax and printed patterns.

I shall go back to take better pics once the renovation is complete!

A soft misty morning start .....

Its so nice sorting through my fabric remnants stored up throughout the year. Hoarding can feel a little bit obsessive and space cluttering but I'd much prefer to be a hoarder than a throw away j***y.

Larger remnants are used for cushion covers to sell in the shop. * envelope back with sheepwool fillers.

Medium sized pieces turn into things like hotwater bottle covers quilted together with a natural cotton wadding layer to give them a bit of squish and comfort.

I can't wait to show you this years limited edition 'Collage' batch of hotwater bottle covers as they re particularly eclectic and brilliant 😃 . It was a lovely time spent cutting out and putting colours & patterns together.

Some are made up of now archived designs from our favourite screen printed remnants from good folk like St Jude's Fabrics & Papers, Thorody aka , Tamasyn Gambell screen printer. There's Ian Mankin cotton ticking, vintage Sanderson and pieces of reimagined Morris & Co. patterns, with random pieces of quality European linens and cotton canvas too.

The Dahlia gives me one bloom at a time and currently I have two separate flowers a week which is making my random vintage pottery cylinder collection come in handy! 🤗 🌸
