Half term at home with my little crew has been chilled and relaxed and what we all needed. The sunshine has helped so that we could be outdoors although one night there were 5 of us and a dog in one bed (scroll to the end video with sound on). Other than that it's been dog walks, picnics, water fights and alfresco dinners. Just what we all needed.

The month of May so far ...

1. The kitchen filled with sunlight
2. The little potting shelf - I love a terracotta pot
3. A big tidy up in the garden has lifted my spirits when I look out the window
4. Love the big mirror and chuffed with the sleeveless jumper from the kids section of M&S
5-8. A lovely day out in the Cotswolds with and (pr invite)
9. New spring nails 🧡
10. Calm bedroom vibes with ☀️ and lots of layers
11. New bracelets made by my eldest 🫶🏼
12. Shadows and sun in the bootroom, forever grateful for this space
13-14. Woodland walks - getting better at walking and exploring rather than being carried 🙄
15. A surprise visitor in the garden a few nights ago, we think she's coming back every night 🦔

Boys rooms can be hard when they're not babies and they're not teenagers; that in-between age when they're not into toys anymore but they're not grown up can be quite tricky. It's mainly about Lego and Minecraft at the moment but I hope this room will carry him through for a while yet.
New bedding and a big tidy up has helped give it a little refresh.

Heading into the weekend with sunshine and flowers and just enjoying the everyday moments.

Clearing out the old flowers and replacing with a fresh bunch always feels good.

Just being in the garden, pottering and appreciating the colour of the sky 💙

And also getting better at going for walks - she's a fair weather little one and is so much happier this week too 🐶

The Bootroom tour in stills.

The doors are now on, everything is painted and it's fully operational (we just have one radiator to be fitted back on!)

We have 5 cupboards, 5 drawers and 5 shoe holes - one for each of us. I think I speak to all the parents out there who feel the despair when coats, shoes and bags get discarded all over the house. I insist that everything stays in here - do they use the coat hangers...no! Do I spend my time sweeping up the mud brought in on football boots, yes! But to have a designated space is an absolute game changer.

It was a very dark space with only one small window so we opted for a sun tunnel and the amount of natural light we have gained is incredible.

Just for context, this used to be part of our drive. We reduced our driveway but still have plenty of space to park so it was an obvious choice to extend out this way to make space for a bootroom.

I thought I'd share some of the ways I have introduced colour into our neutral kitchen and dining room.
I've never thought of myself as a neutral colour person yet we've ended up with a neutral kitchen - I think it'll stand the test of time and I love it but I also wanted to keep a bit of colour in there so that it really felt like us.
You don't have to paint all the walls to get colour into your room, there are so many other ways to achieve it.

Easter weekend at ours ...

It has been, and is going to be, a quiet one.
Easter decor is minimal but tulips, daffodils and hot cross buns were winning until our puppy ate sultanas from the hot cross buns meaning we had to have an emergency vets appointment so now it means they were the most expensive hot cross buns ever but we are all sorted and that's the main thing 🫠

A family day tomorrow and big roast (and lots of mini eggs unless I eat them after the kids go to bed tonight!!)

While we are wondering when the sun will return and the grey skies will pass, it's important to take joy in the little things ...

1. Styling the new sideboard in the snug.

2. Taking a moment to gather my thoughts and enjoy this slightly hidden new corner

3. Hyacinths at this time of year bring a beautiful scent and hint at everything new that's about to blossom this year.

4. The candles are lit all year round but it makes it especially cosy at the moment

5+6. Tulips in my favourite colour way, I love the warm colours with the green stems

7. You can't beat getting outdoors in-between the showers.

8. The arch will forever bring me joy ✨

9. Making our own bread - toasted sourdough with a tangy marmalade is my absolute fave.

10.Our new pans from are brilliant, we've never had induction before now and I don't think I'd ever go back

I'm still clinging onto the vision and I'm holding my nerve. I'm so excited, I haven't even thought about Christmas 🫣
