This time of year, any family walk usually ends in me taking pictures of dead foliage and plants or grabbing a few dead stems- I LOVE using twigs and seed heads etc. So today a whilst walking to the cabin, it made me see so much of our garden has “gone over” so I decided to challenge myself to try and make a door wreath with dead foliage (although I did need a little bit of “alive” greenery!)

What do you think?

When you’re having a few cheeky days away but the flower markets open for this weekend’s wedding!

Keep your eyes peeled this week for the dates for this years Christmas wreath workshops (which seems bonkers to say whilst in my swimsuit and it’s 28 degrees!)

A little while ago I had the absolute privilege of being asked to provide funeral flowers for a much loved grandma and a bit of a local legend here in Glenfield.

She was the head of their family and they wanted the best send off for her and every detail was thought about.

I liaised with a relative, we had a consultation to discuss what they wanted, we talked about the lovely lady and how vibrant she was. The night before I went and dressed the wicker casket.

I feel that I can offer way more than picking from a brochure at a funeral directors. I can incorporate foliage or flowers from their own garden, objects from their favourite hobbies, favourite flowers/colours etc.

I also offer a service of collecting the main tribute after the funeral and deconstructing the arrangement and using the flowers for small arrangements to give away at the wake.

So many more possibilities when you can actually speak to the florist who will be making this special tribute for a loved one.

Thank you to the family for sharing and giving permission to use these photos.

Received this today- what a gorgeous letter to start the weekend!

All of the Sweetpea family are so saddened to have woken up to the news that St Andrew's, Jarrom Street has suffered a fire. I work with the St Andrew’s congregation many times a year, and in fact we were there on Monday preparing for the funeral that was due to take place today.

This congregation is so full of life and energy, multicultural and the congregation numbers on a Sunday just keep growing and growing. Whenever I’m there be it for a more somber occasion or a joyful one, this place is always “buzzing” with activity. I have no doubts that with Johannes at the helm the congregation will all pull together.

My heart feels heavy today because of this. St Andrew’s played a big part of my decision making to go on my own again and to pursue the teaching side of floristry more.

Sending lots of love to them.
