Hannah's Room began as Claire Tinsley's hobby in 1997 and has grown considerably since then. Started initially in Claire's daughter's bedroom, (she is the one called Hannah!) it quickly grew to fill several floors of Claire's large house. Today there are more than a thousand fabrics and items available from stock, and new material arrives every week. Hannah's Room has become well known for the var

🌧️ It's a rather soggy Monday here at Hannah's Room, with the rain hammering down outside and the kettle working overtime!

But a lovely email from a customer brightened our day. She'd taken one of our kits away on holiday and has now finished it – and it got us thinking...

🧵 What a Week at Hannah’s Room! 🧵

It’s been one of those wonderfully busy weeks that reminds us just how lucky we are to be part of such a creative community.

On Monday, we spent the day with the lovely ladies of Bridgnorth Quilters, teaching one of our textile workshops and seeing lots of beautiful projects taking shape.

On Wednesday, we headed to Cosby Quilters to give our Beauty of Batiks talk. It was a fantastic evening sharing the story behind Hannah’s Room, our love of batik fabrics, and the inspiration behind many of our designs.

Thank you to everyone who came along, listened so enthusiastically, asked questions, and spent time browsing our kits and finished samples afterwards. It was lovely to meet so many fellow textile enthusiasts!

And yesterday we were on the road again, setting up our stand ready for the Spalding Quilt Show, which opens today and continues tomorrow. The stand is packed with textile art kits, our new Quiet Moments Collection, Family Tree kits, and plenty of colourful batik inspiration.

Today we spent a wonderful day in Bridgnorth teaching our Journal Quilt Workshop.

It was lovely to see the room filled with creativity as everyone worked from our range of Hannah’s Room journal quilt designs, choosing fabrics, layering shapes and bringing each piece to life in their own way.

From Highland cows and swallows to puffins, poppies, sunflowers, cottages and florals, each project had its own personality, even when working from the same design. That's one of the things we love most about fabric collage — the fabrics, colours and individual choices made by each maker ensure that no two pieces are ever quite the same.

There was plenty of concentration, laughter, inspiration and cake throughout the day, and it was wonderful to watch the projects gradually take shape as confidence grew and the designs came to life.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today and made it such an enjoyable workshop. We can't wait to see your finished pieces once the stitching and embellishments have been added.

Just a little note to let everyone know that Hannah’s Room will be closed until the start of June while we take a few days to recharge and prepare for a very busy and exciting few months ahead.

June is looking wonderfully full already with talks, workshops, shows and our Summer Retreat all coming up — and behind the scenes we’ve also been working on lots of brand new designs that we can’t wait to share with you when we return.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, kindness and enthusiasm for everything we create. We’re looking forward to coming back refreshed, inspired and ready for a very creative summer ahead.

✨ New Club Releases ✨
This month’s Puffins collection is now available to our club members across all three Hannah’s Room clubs 💙
Featuring layered batik fabrics, textured stitching and a peaceful coastal feel, this month’s designs have been created in:
• The Postcard Collection
• Journal Quilt Club
• Slow Stitch Club
We absolutely love how beautifully these three versions work together as a collection while still each having their own unique character and stitching style.

If you’re local to Nottingham and enjoy textile art, this exhibition by the East Midlands Contemporary Textiles group looks well worth a visit this week.
Lots of inspiring contemporary textile work on display and it’s always lovely to support creative exhibitions and galleries when we can.

April has certainly kept us on our toes…
It’s been a full and rather eventful month here at Hannah’s Room. A couple of weeks ago, both Craig and I were completely knocked out by a flu bug, which sadly meant we had to miss a planned talk — something we were genuinely sorry to miss.
But, as always, we picked ourselves back up and got straight back into it… and what a way to finish the month!

This past weekend we were at British Quilt and Stitch Village at Uttoxeter Racecourse, and it was wonderfully busy. Seeing so many of you stop, browse, chat, and connect with the designs is always the best reminder of why we do what we do. The atmosphere was full of creativity, colour, and that lovely shared love of stitching.
Moments like this — busy stands, curious makers, and lots of lovely conversations — are what make all the behind-the-scenes work so worthwhile.
Thank you to everyone who came to see us, and for all your continued support. It truly means so much.
Here’s to a fresh, creative May ahead… we’ve got some lovely things in the pipeline 💛

✨ Boxing Hares ✨

This month’s designs across the clubs capture that fleeting springtime moment , two hares meeting mid-leap in their lively dance across the field.

Each version explores the same idea in a slightly different way, from simple machine stitching through to more textured hand stitching.
