⚠️ Buying J2 Flooring or Invictus LVT? Check your retailer first.

The Little Carpet Shop is proud to be an approved retailer of both J2 Flooring and Invictus LVT, with approved retailer exclusivity in our local area.

Why does that matter?

You may see J2 or Invictus products being offered elsewhere, but before purchasing, we’d strongly recommend checking that the company you’re buying from is actually an approved retailer.

Buying through a non-approved retailer could affect the manufacturer’s guarantee, and you may also end up paying more. Non-approved retailers still need to source the product through an approved supplier — potentially buying it at the same price you could purchase it directly from us — before adding their own margin on top.

Alongside J2 Flooring and Invictus, we also supply a huge selection of flooring from ranges including Inspirations, Textures, Alva, Sublime and Xylo, among many others.

So if you’ve chosen J2 Flooring or Invictus LVT for your home, check who you’re buying it from before you order.

âś… No unnecessary middleman

The Little Carpet Shop — buy it from the people approved to sell it.

“WE WERE TOLD IT COULDN’T BE DONE…”

We quite like hearing that sentence.

This customer in Lowton already had Camaro Herringbone Click LVT throughout the downstairs, fitted before The Little Carpet Shop had even opened.

Since then, they’d extended the property and knocked a wall through, so naturally they went back to the company who’d originally supplied their flooring.

The price they were given to extend it was, shall we say… astronomical.

So they came to us.

Not only were we able to make them a massive saving, they’d also previously been told the existing floor couldn’t be continued through without putting a break in it.

That wasn’t what the customer wanted.

And, more importantly, it wasn’t true.

We arranged for a joiner to carefully remove one of the skirting boards, allowing Matt to take up enough of the existing click LVT to work backwards into the original floor before working forwards again into the new area.

The result?

The existing and new flooring now flows through as one continuous floor, making it look like the whole thing was fitted at the same time — exactly what the customer wanted.

Sometimes the easiest answer is “you can’t do that.”

Sometimes it just needs somebody prepared to work out how you can.

THERE’S ONLY ONE WAY TO DO IT — PROPERLY.

Another herringbone vinyl installation, this time running through this kitchen/diner and into the hallway, fitted by Ethan.

Have a look where the flooring meets at the doorway into the hall.

The herringbone pattern lines up perfectly from one area into the next.

It might seem like a small detail, but it’s exactly the sort of thing we look for. If you’re going to fit a patterned floor, take the time to plan it properly and make sure everything flows as it should.

There’s only one way to do it — and that’s properly.

Which is exactly what Ethan has done here.

Although we’ve noticed something else about Ethan’s photos…

No matter how good the finished floor looks, he always manages to get a foot, leg or some other part of himself into the picture.

We genuinely can’t work out whether he’s camera shy or just desperate for a little bit of fame.

Either way, the flooring looks spot on.

A DECENT CARPET DOESN’T HAVE TO COST A FORTUNE

Not every room needs the most expensive carpet in the shop.

Sometimes you just want something that looks good, feels good, is easy to clean and doesn’t cost the earth — particularly in a busy family home where you know the kids are going to give it some hammer!

This is one of our budget-friendly ranges, starting from just ÂŁ4.99 per square yard.

Affordable, practical and easy to maintain. And if the kids eventually manage to destroy it, at this price it’s slightly less heartbreaking!

But there’s one thing we don’t do differently with a budget carpet…

The fitting.

Our fitters put the same time, care and effort into fitting a ÂŁ4.99 carpet as they would one of the most expensive carpets in the shop.

Because to us, it’s not about what the carpet is worth. It’s about what it’s worth to the person who’s paid for it — and what our own standards mean to us.

Budget-friendly carpet.

Not budget-friendly standards.

Available from The Little Carpet Shop, starting at just ÂŁ4.99 per square yard.

SUBLIME HERRINGBONE LVT — AND THIS ONE NEEDED A LOT MORE THAN JUST FITTING A FLOOR

Another cracking job completed by Liam & Scott, but the finished pictures don’t tell half the story of what went into this one.

When we originally measured, this was a hallway, study and lounge/diner. We established straight away that the existing asphalt subfloor was uneven and would need considerable preparation before LVT could go anywhere near it.

Then the walls came down.

Removing the walls left gaps in the asphalt, which created another issue. Asphalt itself acts as a moisture barrier, but the newly exposed areas where those walls had stood didn’t have that protection.

Simply filling the gaps and flooring over them wasn’t an option.

Those areas had to be built up and treated with a liquid DPM (damp-proof membrane). Without that moisture protection, moisture could potentially travel through the newly exposed sections and eventually ruin the LVT above.

And that was only the start…

The floor sloped away considerably in areas, so Liam and Scott made two further visits, gradually building those sections up to create the flat surface needed.

Then came another visit to screed over the entire area and get everything exactly where we wanted it.

Only then could we actually start fitting the floor.

And this is why we constantly talk about preparation.

Anyone can look at the finished photographs and see a beautiful herringbone floor. What you can’t see is the multiple visits, damp protection, building-up and levelling work underneath it that gives that floor the best chance of looking like this for years to come.

The finished LVT is called Sublime — and we genuinely can’t think of a better word for it.

Beautiful herringbone throughout, finished with a subtle brass detail in the doorway that just sets the whole thing off.

Another example of why experience matters.

We have the experience to identify the problems before and during a job — and, more importantly, the fitters with the skill and patience to solve them properly.

No shortcuts. No covering problems up and hoping for the best.

Just another floor done properly by The Little Carpet Shop.

ANOTHER ONE OF OUR CLEARANCE BARGAINS FITTED

You might have noticed that every now and again we manage to get our hands on a seriously good carpet at a seriously good price.

There’s usually a reason — discontinued ranges, end-of-line stock or manufacturers simply wanting the remaining stock off their shelves.

It doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the carpet. In fact, quite the opposite. Sometimes it just means we can buy a quality product at clearance prices and pass the saving straight on.

This is one of those carpets.

Currently available in Mushroom and Chardonnay, shown here fitted throughout the stairs, landing and bedrooms in this Lowton home.

If you’re not bothered about having 20 different colours to choose from and one of the remaining colours works in your home, these clearance ranges can be an absolute bargain.

But when they’re gone, they’re gone — we can’t reorder discontinued stock once it’s finished.

Another lovely job fitted by Ethan for The Little Carpet Shop.

Quality flooring doesn’t always have to come with a big price tag.

ANOTHER STAIR RUNNER COMPLETED BY ETHAN

This one uses Cormar Primo Textures, finished with black tape edging for a clean, sharp contrast.

The runner has been profile fitted — meaning it’s pinned underneath the lip of each step rather than flowing straight down over the nose.

There are two main ways we fit stair runners, and profile fitting gives that more tailored, defined appearance by following the shape of every individual step.

Stair runners are a great way of adding a bit of character to your staircase while still showing off the edges of the stairs — and with different carpets, edging colours and fitting styles available, there’s plenty of scope to make yours completely different.

Measured, supplied and fitted by The Little Carpet Shop.

Another cracking bit of work from Ethan.

XYLO WATER-RESISTANT LAMINATE — OLD FARMHOUSE TRANSFORMATION

Another big laminate installation completed by Liam & Scott, this time in an old farmhouse in Lowton.

We fitted Xylo water-resistant laminate across:

• Three bedrooms
• Landing
• Two downstairs lounges
• Ribbed entrance matting at the back door

First, a little bit of honesty about “water-resistant” laminate — because we’re always very clear about this at The Little Carpet Shop.

Water-resistant does NOT mean waterproof.

Think splash-resistant. The boards are treated to help prevent moisture penetrating them, so if you spill something and wipe it up promptly, you’ve got that extra protection. It doesn’t mean you can flood it and expect nothing to happen!

THE PART YOU DON’T SEE IN THE FINISHED PHOTOS…

The downstairs lounges were concrete and needed levelling compound before the laminate could be fitted correctly.

The floors still slope — and that’s absolutely fine.

A laminate floor doesn’t necessarily need to be level. It needs to be FLAT.

There’s an important difference.

We see laminate floors fitted elsewhere where gaps start appearing, the floor creaks when you walk across it, joints begin failing and understandably people think:

“This laminate is rubbish.”

Quite often, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the laminate. It’s what is underneath it that’s causing the problem.

Imagine putting a perfectly flat board onto an uneven surface. Press one end and the other moves. It rocks.

Now connect hundreds of those boards together and repeatedly walk across them.

If the subfloor isn’t sufficiently flat, those boards are continually flexing and moving. Eventually you’re putting unnecessary stress through the joints and something can give.

That’s why preparation matters.

Being an old farmhouse, there were also considerable differences in floor levels between different areas. Running the laminate continuously through every doorway would have required major additional preparation and significantly increased the customer’s budget.

Instead, we separated the rooms at the doorways.

But look closely at the pictures…

Liam and Scott still lined the planks up through the doorways, so although they’re technically separate floors, everything visually follows through and lines up beautifully.

That’s proper flooring.

Laminate is still a fantastic option — durable, easy to maintain, great looking and considerably more affordable than many alternatives.

But like virtually every floor covering we sell:

The product is only half the job. What it’s fitted onto — and who fits it — matters just as much.
