In the early 1980's and 90's Wellsgreen Farm was best known for Strawberry picking. We welcomed thousands of people onto our farm every Summer to 'pick their own' or buy them 'ready picked.' We also produced berries for Supermarkets and employed hundreds of local people to help us along the way. Since then, Strawberries have been replaced by golf balls as we diversified two of our strawberry fields into our Golf Range and Restaurant which was built in 1995.
Since our family came to Wellsgreen in 1928, the farm itself has been through many changes. Originally run as a dairy farm before moving into beef then vegetables and fruit. In recent years Wellsgreen has become mainly a cereal operation growing malting barley for Kingsbarns Distillery near St Andrews as well as rye and wheat.

To make sure our farm is ready for the next generation, the time has come for a further, and we think really exciting change. We have an unused farm cottage opposite our Golf Range which we recently applied for and received planning permission to change into a farm shop which we hope to open in the Summer of 2023. To prepare for this we have started a herd of Traditional Hereford Cattle as well as sheep to produce amazing grass fed beef and lamb for our shop. We also plan to bring back fruit and veg onto the farm and maybe even our own laying hens!! We hope our shop will also help support other local farmers and producers in the area as we look to offer as much local produce as we possibly can!

In addition to all of the above, we want to welcome you, the public, onto our farm to see what we are doing. We will be advertising 'Farm Visits' very soon which will include walking with our friendly Goats and Alpacas around the farm and meeting our other farm animals along the way. We have loads of ideas for the future and can't wait to get started!
So please share this post with friends, follow our page and join us on our new adventures...
