is a creative fundraiser in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Miniature artworks are being submitted for auction later this summer. The criterion is simple; the art must fit inside a sardine tin. 🐟 The Makery Shropshire
I have submitted two tiny terraces of mini houses that spell out the name of our town but meanwhile…. I had requests from friends for their very own towns, in tins!
I have adapted the idea (and the tin) and now seem to spend the days fashioning little buildings from textured clay. It’s a pleasant endeavour!
Each little house is about the size of an old postage stamp or smaller. Some have glazed rooves but mainly they’re decorated with oxides and sponged back to accentuate the surfaces I press into the clay.
If you would like your very own town in a tin, please message. Shrewsbury is off the cards until the fundraiser has happened I’m afraid. The price is ‘per house’ so if you live in Wem, York, Bath, Lymm or Deal you’re ok.
