So after a (very)long break from Instagram here’s the last install of 2023. There’s still a little finishing up but this project has worked really well in the space. Giving those awkward loft spaces access and storage solutions. Having an oak effect finish with simple white always produces a lovely contemporary look. The clients have been great to work with, having specific ideas from the start.

Two more sets of traditional panel shutter were made for this return client who now has them fitted to all windows throughout their amazing home. These are such a joy too make and need real accuracy to ensure correct operation. Traditional joinery design and construction techniques never fail with this type of project. The. Ext project is not so small so keep following….

The work space onsite changes from project to project, so here are some slightly obscure shots of a recent project in Walthemstow. A few fun detailing bits were designed into this using beech wood, including the framing detailing and handles. It’s easy to follow trends but the most rewarding part of a project is the ideas and consultation stage. If you’re going for bespoke, then go bespoke all the way.

Some pictures of a recent install showing the traditional frame and panel door styling with beading. A popular choice of doors for clients living in Victorian houses. Oak veneered interiors bring a great contrast to the ‘dried plaster’ paint choice. Bespoke designs were needed ‘his and her’ wardrobe layouts. The next project being built is a little more contemporary, looking forward to this one!

A great project comes to completion. The frame and panel style doors are always a popular choice but the handles from really brought this all together. All the doors and trim were spayed in French Grey. The detailing for the drawers came about after tidying up the workshop and finding a piece of walnut timber, left over from a kitchen project produced a few years back. Experimenting, and developing ideas off the cuff are one of the many bonuses to this line of work. The client was delighted, especially with the make-up drawer, another surprise item.

The finishing details being worked on today before sanding and spraying starts. These are the drawer fronts to wardrobes being installed in a weeks time. Whilst having a clean up of the workshop after such a busy stretch I came across a beautiful piece of walnut timber left over. Working it into the oak parts of this job has really raised the look!! More photos to come on install.

Another storage solution for some clients who recently had a loft conversion and we’re left with the space under the eaves to decide what to do with. These units were designed with very little tolerance so they could maximise the space. Once in it was a surprise to see how much storage there really was. The limited space in the room meant some nifty bifold doors were made so access wasn’t a problem (tell that to the 6’2” fitter!

Storage, airing cupboard and an elegant way to hide the washing machine. For any busy family home it’s great to use your space in a way that works for you: these units where water repellent treated using water protectors and stained in an amber wax oil. The traditional styled panel and frame doors were made using top quality hydrofugo moisture resistant mdf (the only mdf we use) and sprayed in a polyurethane coating which was colour matched to a colour. Lots more to get on with this week so updates to come!

The client for this project wanted to use the central fireplace space between the alcoves to maximise storage space. Despite the shallow depth the soft close drawers and bifold adjustable unit has swallowed up a surprising amount of clothing! Base drawers below each alcove wardrobe unit also became a great storage solution for shoes to stay organised rather than messy open spaces. The shaker style panelled door design in white with copper handles has worked beautifully!
