We’re excited to share the recent completion of the Performing Arts Centre for the Grammar School at Leeds, featuring a 350-seat auditorium with 240 retractable seats for flexible use. Designed for theatre and music production students, the space features a full catwalk system and state-of-the-art audio-visual technology integrated with the control room.

The auditorium’s interior is clad in natural oak, with panels carefully designed to enhance acoustics—reflecting sound near the stage and absorbing it around the seating area. Adjustable acoustic panels and drop-down banners allow the space to adapt for both musical and spoken performances.

Construction works on The Grammar School at Leeds Performing Arts Centre are continuing on site, with the superstructure in place and the roof, cladding and windows installed to make the envelope watertight. Evans McDowall Architects have been leading the design team for this major project in collaboration with Thornton-Firkin LLP, Sleater & Watson LLP, Theatretech & SVM Building Services Design and are now working alongside the contractors Britcon (UK) Limited to deliver a fantastic new facility for the school.
