SKETCHING THE V&A
coach trip
Do you fancy a Victoria and Albert Museum artist day? We Ravens were thinking of a quiet museum day and fancied a trip to the V&A Museum in Kensington, London, for research and sketching. When we worked out the costs of train and tube tickets and station parking, it was going to cost a fortune, plus all the hassle and chaos that goes with using and relying on public transport.
Therefore, we have decided to plan a cultural day with like-minded creatives and friends by hiring a coach and inviting you all to join us. This artist day trip would be a peaceful, creative escape to one of the world's greatest artist research venues. You can explore, find inspiration, photograph, sketch and draw historically or geographically catalogued wares. The Victoria and Albert Museum actively encourages visitors to sketch and draw, so we can all pack up our big sketchbooks and pencils and get dropped off right outside the door.
We have decided to go on a Wednesday in January when the museum should be really quiet. There are no major visiting exhibitions, the kiddies will have just gone back to school and tourists will be minimal. The cost would be £40-50 per person for the coach, this is a non-profit event. Museum entry is free. Bring a pack-up and we'll book a picnic room for lunch, or treat yourself to the museum's many eateries. The Natural History Museum and Science Museum are both next door to the V&A.
If you like the sound of this event, a creative adult-only trip on an executive coach, with reclining seats whilst watching classic period films, then this may be something to look forward to in the depths of winter.
If this Lincolnshire artist's outing is popular, we also fancy a trip to Kew Gardens for botanical studies in early summer and the long haul up to Lindisfarne would be fabulous!
