Mead Monday!

We are going to have weekly topics to do with everything beekeeping related and to kick it off we are going to talk mead.

What is mead?
Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages known to man kind. Its simply just honey and water and alow it to ferment. Things have come on a long way with the use of yeasts, staggered feeding nutrients and adding all kinds of flavours to make that special brew.

Some of you may of remembered around this time last year i made my first two batches of mead. They were nurtured and allowed to age, they say the longer the better, so ill let them sit a while longer.

I'm going to begin a apricot mead soon, one that my father made many years ago, I've found his recipe, it was a favourite of everyones so let's see how it turns out.
