The timber is locally and sustainably sourced, dried to below 10% moisture content making it suitable for interior use. There are multiple native species of hardwood slabs available including oak, chestnut, elm, beech and yew. Once the wood slabs are taken out from the kiln, they are professionally flattened and sanded to 120 grit to expose the natural grain of the wood so that you can see and buy
a piece of wood that is suited to your needs and is ready for working on. Much of the wood is live edge (natural edge) and some is square edge, some have one side live edge and the other edge square. The sizes of timbers vary with different length, width and thickness, each board is assessed for quality and mass to give each piece its own unique price and identity. All of the wood has its province recorded and can be traced back to the area it grew originally, they are trees that had already fallen prior to being lumbered. If requested, a cutting service can be provided for some of the available stock. Further smoothing and wood finish can be applied on request too.
