*** Improvisation ***

Do you know why Jack Daniel's Old No 7 Tennessee Whiskey is called such?

Well researching objects for props is a fascinating part to storytelling art.

Over 50hrs for each piece of artwork and I can't explain the enjoyment I get from every moment. Hope to be back to it very soon.

*** Three Pieces at Once ***

If one pair of hands are not enough, I'm going for three at once. Who else paints several pieces at once? Comment here and let me know what you do.

What artists out there agree that the signature you put on your painting can be the most difficult part of the whole process?

An enjoyable afternoon at Blasus succulent emporium with PurplepieGallery owner Jenna Murphy being filmed telling a story or two about my artwork, and in particular "The Homecoming", which is about the person waiting at home for a loved one who may or may not come back from a war torn country far away.

A brand new project with a brand new story to tell. WWII and N**i Germany have a chokehold on Europe. But will this one act change the course of the war and bring their country down?

*** And They Gave Me a Chair ***

Here I am poised in my comfortable chair to tell a story or two of "Grit and Soul", "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea", "Hold Fast" and my brand new piece "The Homecoming" at lasts nights opening at the Blasus succulent emporium.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening chatting with visitors and fellow artists. Coffee/Bar with alcohol and cakes together with a whole exotic plant section.

And there is some really good artwork displayed as well, which has made me think I've got to up my game. So, I spent this afternoon in my studio catching up with a piece I've been working on for ages. Not a bad weekend so far!

The artwork from 23 different artists will be at this location for several weeks. If you want a different atmosphere, get yourself down to this great little venue. It is quirky, it is impressive and it is exactly what art is all about.

And don't forget to look me up for the stories behind these pieces and other exciting artwork.

*** FIRST TIME SHOWING OF "THE HOMECOMING" ***

An Invitation to You All

This Friday from 7pm - 10th April, I’ll be exhibiting alongside 22 other artists at a brand new venue in Canton, Cardiff. It’s a unique space called Blasus—South Wales’ first succulent emporium, home to over 200 varieties of houseplants, cacti, and succulents.

Tucked away just off Cowbridge Road East (Blasus Succulent Emporium, Unit 1, Hedel Road, Canton, Cardiff, CF11 8DJ), it’s a bit of a hidden gem… and an unexpectedly perfect setting for art.

I know—art in a plant emporium might sound unusual. I thought the same at first. But once you experience the atmosphere, with its café/bar, late openings, and creative energy, it all makes perfect sense.

I’ll be showing four pieces from my Heritage Series, including brand new artwork being revealed publicly for the very first time.

The piece is titled “The Homecoming”—a work that reflects on a deeply human side of war: the waiting, the uncertainty, and the enduring hope for the return of a loved one from distant conflict.

If you’ve seen a small glimpse of it on social media, this will be your first chance to experience it in full.

I’d love for you to come along, say hello, and explore this wonderfully quirky space while discovering some fantastic new artists. Here is the locations link: https://www.blasus.co.uk/

Thank you, as always, for your continued support—it means a great deal as my work evolves into new and exciting directions.

Warm regards,

Ian
