Crouch End Project | Home Office Transformation (Part 1)

When we first started working on this home, it felt like a blank canvas.

The clients knew they wanted something more personal and expressive, but they weren’t quite sure what that looked like yet. Together, we explored how they wanted each space to feel and what would make the home truly reflect them.

This home office is a perfect example.

At first glance, it might not be obvious, but the inspiration for this room came from one of our client’s greatest passions: football.

We translated that inspiration into a sophisticated and highly personal design language. The blue walls create a calm backdrop and continue the colour story running throughout the home. A bold red ceiling introduces an unexpected focal point and creates the wow effect the clients were looking for.

Storage was another important consideration. We designed bespoke shelving and joinery to maximise space for a growing book collection, colour-matched to the walls to create a seamless and cohesive look.

Green accents appear throughout the room, from the curtains to the chair, while the patterned carpet subtly reinforces the original inspiration behind the design.

In the next chapter, we’ll reveal the completed transformation.

Crouch End Project | Client Interview | Part 2

One of the most meaningful parts of any project is hearing how the experience felt for the people living through it.

In this second part of the interview, our clients speak about the design and realisation stages of the renovation process, from the excitement of shaping the vision to the experience of seeing the spaces gradually come together.

They also share how valuable it felt to have support coordinating the many moving parts behind the scenes, helping the process feel more manageable, organised, and enjoyable.

For us, this is what full-service design is truly about: not only creating beautiful spaces, but also making the journey smoother and more enjoyable for the people living through it.

Crouch End Project | Client Interview | Part 1.

When the clients first moved into this house, it felt like a blank canvas.
The spaces lacked warmth, colour, and a sense of personality.

They knew they wanted to transform the home into something more personal and expressive, but they needed help shaping that vision and bringing it to life.

At the same time, they were preparing for an important new chapter in their lives, expecting a baby while planning a major renovation.

For this first part of the interview, we asked them about the beginning of the journey, why they decided to work with us, and what they were looking for.

“What are your plans during the renovation?” is one of the first questions we ask during our discovery consultation.

Because every project is different, not only in design, but also in how our clients need to live throughout the process.

Some families temporarily relocate during major works. Others continue living in the property while the renovation is happening. Both approaches require careful planning and coordination.

A large part of our role is structuring the project around our clients’ lifestyle, routines, work schedules, and timelines, while coordinating builders, suppliers, installers, and the many moving parts behind the scenes.

A renovation should not feel like a second full-time job for the homeowner.

With the right planning and support, the process becomes far more manageable, organised, and clear.

Meet the Designer: Tatiana Lang ✨

Design Your Space was founded by Tatiana Lang, an interior designer with more than 14 years of experience and a background in the furniture industry. Her career spanned every aspect of the industry. She was involved in store management, staff training, customer care, logistics, installations, and new store openings — experience that gave her not only a strong creative foundation, but also the structural and managerial expertise to deliver complex projects with precision and confidence.

Based in North London, the studio was created to bring together craftsmanship, colour, and detail in a way that transforms family houses into soulful, distinctive homes. Tatiana’s early experience taught her the power of interior design to shape not only how a space looks, but how it feels to live in.

Tatiana believes that every successful renovation is built on two essential elements: the idea and the realisation. Defining a clear vision that reflects the client’s lifestyle and aspirations is only the beginning. Equally important is the ability to bring that vision to life through careful coordination with builders, trusted suppliers, and a well-managed process.

This is where her experience makes a difference. Tatiana and her team oversee and manage the entire renovation process, ensuring every detail is delivered as intended while clients can focus on their daily lives with confidence and peace of mind.

Tatiana’s approach has always been rooted in empathy and creativity. Known for her confident use of colour and her instinct for detail, Tatiana creates interiors that are timeless yet personal, expressive yet practical. She helps clients achieve homes that are a sanctuary for daily life and a true reflection of their individuality and success.

About Us ✨

Founded by Tatiana Lang, Design Your Space is a boutique interior design studio working with North London homeowners on renovations, extensions, and full-home transformations.

We provide a full-service approach, managing the entire journey from concept and design through to sourcing, on-site coordination, and the full delivery of the finished project.

A renovation involves hundreds of decisions and many moving parts. Without structure, it can quickly become overwhelming. Our role is to bring clarity to that process. We help define your vision, understand what is achievable, and guide every stage with careful planning and coordination.

This allows our clients to continue their daily lives without needing to manage the complexity of the renovation themselves. We take care of communication with builders, suppliers, and installers, ensuring that the design is delivered as intended.

The result is a home that reflects your personality, supports your lifestyle, and feels considered in every detail.

Site Visit | Blinds & Upholstery

This is where a lot of the important work happens.

A project like this involves many moving parts. Builders, suppliers, installers, and multiple details that all need to come together at the right time.

Our role is to coordinate that process.

During this visit, we’re reviewing the bespoke blinds and the window seating.
Taking final measurements, discussing fabrics, and refining the upholstery and finishing details.

Everything needs to be considered carefully.
Proportions, materials, how the light will affect the fabric, and how each element will sit within the overall design.

It’s not just about choosing something that looks good. It’s about making sure it works perfectly in the space.

Clear communication and coordination at this stage help avoid issues later on site.
And ensure that when everything is installed, the result feels seamless.

You’re drawn to colour…
but unsure how to use it.

So you hold back.

Yet you don’t want a home that feels like everyone else’s.

We approach colour with intention:
Tested, refined, shaped by light, space and lifestyle.

Creating homes that feel considered…
and entirely yours.

Muswell Hill Project | Before & After

When we first started working on this home, it felt like a blank canvas.
The clients didn’t feel connected to the space. They loved colourful interiors and wanted a home that felt joyful and uplifting.

The challenge was the light. The house is mostly north-facing, so the rooms felt quite dim, especially in winter.

We introduced warm peachy beige tones across the walls and ceilings to bring softness and make the space feel brighter and more open.

Then we layered in colour. Orange through the sofa and curtains, and additional tones through accessories to bring energy and playfulness.

Pattern also plays an important role here. Geometric elements appear in the rug, curtains, wall panels and shelving, helping to tie the space together.

We also reworked the electrics and layout to better support the family’s daily life.
And lighting became a key part of the design.
Different layers allow the space to shift throughout the day, adding warmth and a sense of light even when it’s grey outside.

The same approach continues into the family bathroom.
Designed to feel playful and light, with colour, pattern and improved storage to make it practical for everyday use.

This phase of the project includes the living room and family bathroom, following the completion of three rooms earlier in the renovation.
And most importantly, the home now feels warm, personal, and truly theirs.

Interview with Tatiana: How do you collaborate with contractors and suppliers?

I work very closely with a trusted team from the very beginning of each project.

Most of the people we collaborate with are based in North London, and we’ve worked together across multiple projects over time. That shared experience makes a real difference.

Clear communication is key throughout the process.
From early planning stages to site coordination and final installation.

It helps reduce misunderstandings, avoid delays, and keep everything moving smoothly.

For our clients, that means fewer surprises, better coordination, and a much calmer renovation experience overall.
