Preparing and getting set up for our second ‘Artist’s Table’ workshop.

The Artist’s Table is a series of workshops hosted by Wren Loucks. Each session is led by a maker whose practice is rooted in deep craft and creative conviction. They offer something rare: the chance to slow down, work with your hands, and leave with something made by your own hand.

Today’s session was led by artist Sasha Compton. Participants learned how to paint picture frames in the manner of the Bloomsbury Group. It was a wonderful morning of creativity and connection.

And grandeur is exactly what you feel the moment you step inside.⁠

Five acclaimed studios — Charlap Hyman & Herrero, MAWD | March & White Design, Rockwell Group, Sasha Adler Design, and Urjowan Alsharif Interiors — each took a distinct room and made it entirely their own, all furnished with the work of Italy’s finest artisans. The result is an apartment that doesn’t so much show you objects as it does invite you to feel them. The materials, the light, the layers.⁠

Every April, Milan becomes the design capital of the world. Salone del Mobile — running since 1961 — gathers the best of furniture and interiors design under one roof at Rho Fiera, with over 300,000 visitors from around the world.

The 2026 theme, A Matter of Salone, centres on matter itself — not just as physical substance, but as origin, memory, and untapped possibility — asking what meaning design can take on today.

Wren particularly loved the hall ‘Rarities’ which made its debut this year. It is a new initiative dedicated to collectible design, limited Salone del Mobile Milano editions, design antiques, and high-end creative craftsmanship.

Day 1 - Milan Design Week

Wren went on a tour of Osvaldo Borsani Milan apartment, open to the public for the first time. It was designed in the 1930s.

Then she went to to see their exhibition, ‘La Casa Magica’ which is a curated collection of contemporary furniture, lighting and artwork that contain a sense of magic and ritual.

After this, she popped into official showroom.

WORKSHOPS HOSTED BY WREN LOUCKS

The Artist’s Table is a series of intimate workshops, each led by a maker whose practice is rooted in deep craft and creative conviction. Together they offer something rare: the chance to slow down, work with your hands, and leave with something made by your own hand.

LOCATION

Each workshop is held at Home House in Marylebone, one of London’s most iconic private members clubs. Established in the 18th century, Home House was designed by George Ill’s architect, James Wyatt, who was commissioned to build a sophisticated palace purely for enjoyment and entertainment.

Our first even is May 13th.
