When I'm lucky enough to have an almost overwhelming amount of ceramic orders, something a bit sad happens.
Let me explain-
The orders mean that people have chosen to spend their hard earned money with me and put their trust in me to create something special for them
That's not sad at all! That's absolutely amazing!
The sad part? When I'm really busy I'll often neglect other parts of my life because I'm not often lucky enough to be this busy and I don't want to disappoint my customers. The trade off is then I'll inevitably feel like I'm disappointing my family. Other things get pushed to the back of the queue or don't get 100% of my attention.
I decided to try not to let this happen this time around.
I have around 100 bats to make and about 20 Agnes vases. I also had Halloween props to make for my daughters too- A teapot for The Mad Hatter and and a mechanical claw for an Elizabeth Afton cosplay to make too.
I'd planned these props weeks and weeks ago and I'm kicking my less busy self for not starting them before. So....I took this weekend off.
I haven't checked or replied to emails or DMS, and I finished off this teapot for my 12 year old to collect her Halloween goodies in, and almost finished the claw belt for my 15 year old.
I'm pretty stressed this morning as I'm more behind that I would have been if I'd worked the weekend, but I'm glad I decided to choose my family over work.
It's a hard balance when it's literally just you doing everything. 🤍
