Some gifts feel timeless the moment you hold them. These antique Bilston enamel patchboxes are exactly that.

Small, personal, and beautifully made, they were crafted in 18th century Bilston, a centre celebrated for its finely painted enamels and its love of colour and sentiment. Exchanged as tokens of affection, friendship, and remembrance, each one carries a message meant to last.

Originally, patch boxes held tiny fashionable “beauty patches” - small shapes of silk or velvet worn on the face as elegant accents. Over time they also became containers for keepsakes, notes, or little medicinal patches, which made them wonderfully intimate gifts.
