Mood lighting isn’t a luxury.
It’s how you make a space feel like home.

Yet most homes are lit like showrooms; cold, bright, and flat.
No layers. No softness. No rhythm.

Lighting should shift with your day:
• Soft in the evening
• Warmer at night
• Focused when you need it
• Faded when you don’t

You’ve already designed the space.
Lighting is how you activate it.

Want your home to feel calmer, warmer, more intentional?

Follow to sort your lighting out.

Downlights copy-pasted every 1.5 metres?
That’s not design. That’s autopilot.

We get it grids are easy.

But they flatten everything:
• No direction
• No mood
• No visual hierarchy

You end up lighting everything, which means you highlight nothing.

A good lighting plan asks better questions:
• What should people notice first?
• Where should the eye rest?
• What deserves shadow?

Lighting isn’t just about brightness.
It’s about focus, contrast, and control.

You walk into a boutique hotel or restaurant and think,
“Why does this feel so good?”

It’s the lighting. Always.

But at home?
You’ve lived under the same ceiling spots for so long you’ve forgotten what atmosphere feels like.

Bad lighting becomes normal fast.
That doesn’t mean it’s working.

If you’ve never:
• Lit from the side
• Dimmed by mood
• Layered warmth into a room
…you haven’t even scratched the surface.

Lighting isn’t a finishing touch.
It’s the whole tone.

Follow if you’re rethinking your home - and ready to see it differently.

Two layers of lighting you need to get right:

1️⃣ Architectural Lighting – Built into the space (downlights, coves, integrated LEDs). This sets the mood and can do the ‘heavy lifting’.

2️⃣ Decorative Lighting – Table lamps, pendants, and wall lights that make a space feel brighter and more inviting.

Get both right, and your space will look and feel next level. Ignore one, and something will always feel off.

Not your average table lamp. ROOF is stacked, layered, and unapologetically bold - just like the Japanese rooftops that inspired it.

Swipe through to see how I took tradition, threw in some modern edge, and made something that actually stands out.

Handmade, not mass-produced. Made for people who are tired of the same old ‘minimalist’ decor and want something with real presence.

This isn’t for everyone. But if it speaks to you, welcome 🙂‍↕️

Growing up in a small town in Wales, my family life was pretty mixed having grown up in a white household. My mum is half-Chinese and worked at a local takeaway, so she was busy a lot. My connection to our Chinese culture came in bits and pieces, I’d get red packets at New Year, or we’d have glutinous rice parcels stuffed with Chinese sausage - small things that felt special but were hard for me to understand fully back then.

As I got older, though, I started feeling a pull toward understanding more about where I come from. I’ve become fascinated by the details of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures - the architecture, design, the way everything seems so intentional. It’s like discovering parts of myself that I never really looked at before.

That’s how the ROOF lamp idea came about. I wanted to create something that feels like a nod to my heritage, but in my own way. It’s inspired by those traditional oriental roofs—layered, solid, and balanced. It’s personal for me, a way to explore my roots and connect to something bigger… or maybe its just a lamp idk.

It’s taken a bloody long time to get here, lots of late nights and hard work but we’re very close to launching my first lamp! Thank you for all the support so far.

The inspiration comes from my heritage, im a mix of welsh and chinese without much of a connection to my far eastern roots - so I’m using design as a way of exploring my culture.

The first 10 people to buy the lamp get the candle to match as a thank you for the support so far 🙏🏻

Take care folks,
Stay tuned ✌🏼
